What and Why?

Hmmm. That's a great question. :ninja: I go back and forth between the rational of a good weapon that I'll find plenty of ammo for or a rare weapon that might take some high effort to get by "regular" means. I suppose what sways me is this thought: any decent weapon where I'll find lots of ammo is something that I'll probably come accross soon anyways. And not have too much hassle getting. So I'll take a rare weapon unique. I like sneak/snipe stuff so maybe the Marksman Carbine unique (The All American, the Vault is a little slow these days, isn't it?) or the unique Hunting Rifle. Ammo will still be a consideration so no AMR.

PS .46ACP approves this thread.

The game should only have weapons which existed prior to 1960 and futuristic weapons manufactured after 2040. Just my two cents.

What did all the weapons factories make from 1960-2040? Toasters?

I'd choose the riot shotgun.

I hate Obsidians decision to include iconic real life weapons like the M4 which was introduced in 1994 at which point the universe of Fallout had already greatly deviated from our own. I'll sure as hell download a mod to get a Fallout 3 like experience again.

The originals had guns that were designed far after the timeline split. The desert eagle comes to mind. The 50's/60's style is a guideline, not a rule.

I don't think that's fair, the AR-15 has its roots in the 1950s and the M4 is simply a logical development of the AR-15, and the CAR-15 (which I think looks more like the assault carbine than the M4) is a design similar to the M4 which dates from the late 60s, so it's not really *that* modern.

Of course you guys are right. Just expressing my wish for a FO3 like experience. The weapons were dirty and barely working like they should be in the given setting. Modern U.S. military rifles have this clean and precise look and feel to them which I don't really like in a game such as Fallout.
