What and Why?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 11:47 pm

Things seem very slow lately, it seems to get slower as release day approaches...

I'll pose a question I read a long time ago on here that could liven things up a bit.

Say your character enters an old room. Inside this room is every weapon in Fallout New Vegas. Each weapon is at 100% condition, but there is no ammo in sight. Out of what might be in the room which weapon would you pick and why? Remember, there is only one of each weapon in the room and there is also no ammo. If you could elaborate your reasoning for choosing the weapon that would be great.
- originally asked by .46ACP (a.k.a. asker of good questions)

***EDIT: Due to some slight confusion about ammo, what is meant by it is that there is no ammo in the room. Meaning if you pick a weapon you need to go find ammo for that weapon somewhere else. Its asking for you to take into consideration how hard it might be to find ammo for the weapon of your choice. For example, if I choose the Fatman, I get high damage dealing weapon but with little ammo supply, or, if I pick the .357 I could get a moderate damage dealing weapon with not too much trouble of finding or purchasing ammo. Sorry for the confusion. :)

You can use the list on the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_weapons, or you can describe a weapon that has not been confirmed but has the possibility (from your point of view) of being in-game. (for those tommy gun fans)

I think the purpose is to make sure the choice is done based on the gun itself, not what there is most ammo for.

me it′s the level action shotgun, heck any of the shotguns, ammo is surly easy to find, and with both slugs and buck to choose from it′s versatile.

I could have sworn some developer said that there would be a tommy gun. Hmmmm... Well, I would pick the Anti-Material rifle or a unique variant of it. I love snipers, and powerful ones are even better.

Laser pistol.
One thing I learned from Gamebryo is that it loves to shower me with energy cells.

I'd pick something high tiered like an Anti-Material Rifle or a Light Machine Gun, most likely the former.

Even if it's something I couldn't use straightaway because ammo probably won't drop for it until higher levels, once I start getting ammo and the skill to use it I can also start kicking @$$... :gun:

If there is a Tommy Gun I'll do that. If not I'll take the best shotgun there is.

Dang things have been slow. No new info, just already answered questions. Fallout 2 has me busy though.

My same answer.I love snipers an the AM rifle looks even better. My answer might change once I play through the game and find some energy weapons.A Gauss rifle is a close second.

Hmm...I think I'd go with the Gauss rifle.....I'm not 100% on that though.
I'd assume it still uses microfusion cells so they aren't too hard to find if you look hard enough.
I guess it all depends on how its stats compare to how it was in FO3, with the bugs fixed of course :)

You know, it would be better for you to say there was infinite ammo.

With no ammo I'd rather take a melee weapon.

If ammo is not a concern, I'll take the "service rifle" I just love how it looks.

Hmm, maybe I should rephrase the question
what's really implied with the "no ammo" thing is that if you choose a weapon,
how hard would it be to obtain the ammo in the wasteland? Like if you were to pick the Fatman.
Good weapon for everyone, but ammo can be scarce at times rendering it useless during the moment you have no mini-nukes.

id pick the grenade since it doesnt run on ammo :flamethrower:
 but honestly, the fat man or a missile launcher, due to its sheer intimidating size, you dont wanna TEST whether you have ammo or not

Well in that case, I'd choose something easy to feed. I'd still go with the service rifle, since 5.56 should be pretty common.

Another good choice would be the lever actions. The .357 has been revealed to also shoot the cheaper .38 special, and the .44 can also shoot the .44 special.
So they're tough, powerful guns with decent fire rate, good accuracy, and if your more powerful ammo runs out, you have access to cheaper, weaker ammo that should still get the job done.

I'd choose the riot shotgun.

I hate Obsidians decision to include iconic real life weapons like the M4 which was introduced in 1994 at which point the universe of Fallout had already greatly deviated from our own. I'll sure as hell download a mod to get a Fallout 3 like experience again.

The game should only have weapons which existed prior to 1960 and futuristic weapons manufactured after 2040. Just my two cents.

I don′t mind the carbine, despite having the size of the M4 it′s details looks more like a shrunk down 1960s style M16.
