Doesn't AA stand for Alcoholics Anonymous?

I guess it depends on the context. If you're in a battlefield and your sergeant asks you to "take out those AA guns", I don't think he's asking you to take out some "anti-aliasing guns".

And you probably wouldn't have to worry about the "alcoholics anonymous" guns either, since they probably can't shoot straight.

If they're anti-alcoholics guns and you're trying to sleep they might pose a problem though, shooting coffee.

What really annoys the hell out of me is whenever someone mentions the game SC2, there's at least three games that come to mind that it could be and two of them are in the same genre. And then there's all the times I see a MW2 thread, I'm like "Sweet! A Mechwarrior 2.... Oh, it's that stupid game." <_<

Actually, I've gotten that problem too, which is part of the reason why I generally don't refer to games by their acronyms, unless I'm talking about KOTOR, because typing Knights of the Old Republic every time I want to reference the game is kind of inconvenient, plus I don't know of any other game titles which can be shortened that way, I guess S.T.A.L.K.E.R. also counts, but that acronym is actually the name on the box, and I'm not even sure what it's short for.

And it always amazes me that in this forum a topic about acronyms that may confuse some players can suddenly move towards the subject of guns that shoot coffee.

IMO means "in my opinion", AA means http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spatial_anti-aliasing.

And here I though AA meant anti-aircraft. o_O

Also possible interpretations "opening post" or "original post". "OP" is used to refer either to the first post in a thread, or to the poster of the first post in the thread. For example, you (waymer13) are the OP of this thread.

In some other forums, the thread starter will have a custom title (within that thread) to easily identify him. Speaking of thread starting, some forums use TS instead of OP, for Topic/Thread Starter.

I've been reading up on Skyrim lately and found my self confused. It seems as if everyone uses these weird acronyms their responses.

Sometimes I wonder if GoW means Gears of War, or God of War. Guess it depends which console you own.

If you want jargon and acronyms, read the Guild Wars forums sometime. Many of their players have been playing GW since the MMO began six years ago, so all the locations have been given abbrieviations. There's a lengthy list of character "builds" that they discuss, such as "Sabway", "Discordway", and many others. That said, I've been playing GW since last summer and enjoy the game overall.
