This is Weird! Dialogue strangeness.

I'm seeing 2 weird things which I cannot explain.

Thing 1.

For this I'm talking about the completely unmodded game. Unless I somehow broke my save.

If you hire Cass, and choose the option off of the companion wheel to TALK to her.

And her dialogue with you opens as normal etc....

There's no option to trade with her in the dialogue.

Now on the surface that might not look so weird because hey, you can trade via the wheel, right? But you realize that all of the other followers have this visible in their dialogue in addition to directly hitting it via the wheel. So then right, you go in the GECK and look and, if you understand enough about the topics, it is clear that the trade option should be there. I do mean, actually it SHOULD be there. It's correct, it's top level, it has no funny conditions in it. It's really supposed to show up in her top level dialogue when she is hired, but its mysteriously missing. I wonder what the heck is up with that.

Thing 2.

I've been getting followers to talk to me over an intercom via a thing in an .esp . Yeah I know that's unconventional and strange, but check this out.

When using the intercom, you get the top level dialogue topics in your face, and then...

When I pick the "trade" option over the intercom, I hear two instances of the trade dialogue response being said at almost the same time. The two lines are talking over top of one another, sometimes saying 2 different things (some followers have more than one spoken response to trade) and the timing is offset by like maybe, 1/4 of a second.

It doesn't do that if you talk to the follower directly, its just when I use the intercom. And, none of the other lines (at least so far) are doubled up like that.

Thing 1

Hey, mine's weirder...

I went in to look at the Cass I have hanging out in my shack with the other humans and Raul to see if she had anything unusual going on so I could let you know. Everyone's menu is okay, except for Cass'. I can't talk to her about her trading, but I also can't talk to her about tactics either. All I can do is ask her some questions, fire her or close the conversation. The wheel still comes up fine, but the dialogue isn't there when I elect to talk to her.

Ah yes, indeed we're seeing the same thing.

Alright this is sorta good news for you and I. It means WE didn't break it!

I hate these mysterious and inexplicable dialogue bugs - they are nightmares to fix.

I dont know whats going wrong on your end, but ive noticed that one type of robot has extra dialogue assigned to it, conditionalized purely on the vocalrace type of the robot (mister handy voice). So any robot that wants to use the mister handy combat sounds also gets extra dialogue added in, which is immensely annoying.

How are you managing to get NPC's talk via the intercom, is it the same method I saw in a video you posted i.e. conversation box appears but there is no NPC in front of you?
