Any news on the PS3 version of New Vegas?

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 4:36 pm

I have never had any issue with the ps3 played 5 hours today completing from beginning all survival guide and no freeze or bugs.
I played through all the quests and discovered all map markers, did anchorage,The Pitt and Broken steel :D only 2-4 freezes and that is probably because of to much playtime lol :D
But i hated having to play the dlc so late. :D !!-)

Expecting devs or mods to come in here and say "Yes, it'll be better than FO3" (admitting that there were many issues with it on PS3) or "Sorry, it'll be just as bad" is kind of silly, don't y'all think?

That being said...

I played about 350 hours of vanilla FO3 on my 360, then played roughly 50 hours on my PS3 GOTY edition. I never finished on the PS3 because it got so bad by the time I hit level 22 that I couldn't play it anymore. So I started another character and did P.L. early to see it then called it a day and sold the game. So I feel for PS3 owners in the dark about FONV.

I'm going to play the optimist card and say that it'll be just fine. It shouldn't suffer more or less issues than the 360 version as they were developed side by side. I think everyone on every platform will be more than happy with how well this game plays.

If I were playing the pessimist card I'd say it'll be terrible on all three platforms, in which case it also doesn't matter which platform you buy it for.

yeah i hope some reviews come out before release so i can see if the PS3 version still has "more" technical issues then the 360. i have both, but my 360 is not performing well (not to mention my controls are totally worn...) and it's gonna red-ring any minute now so i would like to pick it up on PS3. btw i have FO3 on 360 and it's had plenty of technical issues, and ive heard people on here say they're about dead-even in that regard. only just now have i heard of the game-breaking DLC glitch on PS3 which is...horrible, i hope to God this problem has been dealt with for NV's sake.

i WANT to get it on 360 (actually PC but that's pie in the sky with this piece of crap) but with its problems and my beat up controls... as of now im leaning toward PS3 unless Obsidian gives us info on DLC in the next 7 days, which i have a gut feeling Microsoft is gonna pay a pretty penny to get it a month (or more) early and make me ultra-pissed.

Yes, as a PS3 owner, my @ss was extremely chaffed with the near-fatal freezes from the DLCs as well. Hoping the Obsidian folks, i.e. Sawyer and Uruquart will have solved these problems. I was furious when I heard development priority fell mostly to the 360 and PC ports of FO3 after the fact.

Actually now that i think about it, i never really had too many problems for the ps3 fallout 3.

My first playthrough of about 70 hours was ok, I had about 20 freezes and long load times.
My second playthrough was horrible when I got to the pit around level 30...
It was real bad.

The only issues I suffer sometimes are occassional frame rate drops in Point Lookout. Now, I could be wrong, but I read that the PS3 version of F3 was a 360 port. Now that the PS3 has had time to develop a strong fan base, I think devs this time around have gotten the swing of Developing on the PS3, so HOPEFULLY we wont see as many reported issues, but in a game this size, bugs and glitches are ineviteble.

Come to think of it, i don't think i really had that much of a problem with fallout 3 on my ps3. Occasional freeze's and such but i never had some of these big issues.

Same here, but then... after coming to these forums in excitement for NV, and reading how bad it is for some people, my PS3 began to freeze quite often on Fo3(all other games worked/still work fine). I call jinx.. :swear:

Especially because if it was a moderator saying it, we'd be pulling stuff out of our butts. None of us have played Fallout: New Vegas.

In my experience, expansions/downloadable content don't get the play testing games do. For example, Bloodmoon (the second expansion for Morrowind) caused a game breaking bug for Tribunal (The first expansion). There was also a bug basically caused by Shivering Isles in Oblivion that made the game unplayable. Both of these were later patched, but yeah, later additions of content can cause problems.

so basically we'll just have to wait n' see, not a problem i guess. we'll just have to cross that bridge when we get to it...soooo guess i'll be picking it up on PS3. i swear if Microsoft pays for early DLC i'm going to personally find Bill Gates and punch him square on the chin... (not really; dont want the FBI after me for empty message board threats)

Same here, the part about picking it up on the ps3. I will just be so disappointed if it doesn't work very well.
