Run your own Casino?

when in what fallout game were you able to just stop playing the game and just run a store? its out of the ''lore''yes i said lore what you wanna fight about it

Just cause the technology of the past would not let you run a buisness does not mean its out of lore. "Lore" means based on the universe of wich the game was made. The fallout universe has casinos run by people. So it would not be outside the lore.

This is a great example, I'd forgotten about that completely.

A major benefit for something like this is that it makes money valuable, it gives you plenty of progressively more expensive options to throw your money at, making money more valuable, and the game more immersive. Look at GTA4 for example, you have to wonder why money was even implemented, after the first couple missions you never have to worry about it again.

And to everyone saying this isn't 'sim city', I realize this, it's a role-playing game. A good role playing game offers multiple avenues for accomplishing tasks. If you want to play the gun toting moron just running around shooting everything in the head, I wonder why you're here. Granted, it's fun, but it's also in, you know, EVERY FPS out there. This is a hybrid game, a role playing game, I see no reason to discredit someone's idea for possible new roles to fill because they don't suit your personal play-style, Especially when the idea isn't even detracting from your ability to pursue your style.

Dev. and forumers listen to this man. God gave him a good head on his shoulders. Just because you dont want to run a casino (wich if it was in game you know you would love it) does not mean that you can say somthing without thinking threw it first. I think a casino would add even more to the lore. At the begining it could be a run down yuck of a building. You might get that occasional dude that needs to stay somewhere over night. After you get enough money you could repair the building, get guards, by walls, furnish the inside, hire entertainment from places around the wasteland (Just go to say the strip and find someone on the street... after talking to them you pay them a few caps and they come to work as security, entertainment, waiter, etc.) Get new games, compete with other casinos, get attacked by the ocassional raiders, oposing faction, etc. (That also brings up, depending what faction you join they will start to hang around and lend you a hand with the casino.) You could get money from the manager wich you hire when you get your building. The money will come as more people arrive, and as you upgrade you will see more people coming... eventually a caravan will put you on its route, and deliver goods to your casino.

LOL at the people against it. I want RPGs to have as much depth and customization as possible. Perhaps even MMO type customization depth.

Personally the amount of money you would make off that would be way too huge. And I want to run around being an awesome gunslinger playing FALLOUT not build your own casino.

You can already own those... were talking about a buisness in wich you can get repaired and join the Race to Riches.

O, and redgar... there would most likely be a tax or somthing you had to pay or your casino would start to fall apart again. So not all that money would go to you. You would also need to repair machines and pay staff. There would be money left over but not to much.

the main reason im opposed to this is that since you own a casino you should be earning thousands of caps a day.

that would mean that you would get more money then you could ever possibly need, thus removing a ton of difficulty from the game.

and if they did lower the amount of caps you got every now and then to like 150, how would they explain such a low income?

oh didnt notice redgear posted something just like this.

@wastelander24- that would be a huge hassle having to return to the strip all the time. combined with hardcoe mode it would be extremely frustrating

Dont think you read that right. When you go to the strip you talk to the person (They can be from anywhere) then they disapear from the strip when you leave and head into you casino and that is were they apear, but if you dont pay them then they will walk out and head back to the strip. And to explain the cap reduction, what would happen is you would get payed ethier a low price and you staff is automaticly paid, or you would get payed lots of caps and you would have to pay your staff youself or they would walk out on you, or hunt you down.
