This,
plus think of it like owning the fort in Neverwinter 2, management would be handled by a manager whom you can check in with for quests/$$/ see how things are going, it would be the best home in the game While I don't think its in the main game right now it coud be added as part of a dlc
This is a great example, I'd forgotten about that completely.
A major benefit for something like this is that it makes money valuable, it gives you plenty of progressively more expensive options to throw your money at, making money more valuable, and the game more immersive. Look at GTA4 for example, you have to wonder why money was even implemented, after the first couple missions you never have to worry about it again.
And to everyone saying this isn't 'sim city', I realize this, it's a role-playing game. A good role playing game offers multiple avenues for accomplishing tasks. If you want to play the gun toting moron just running around shooting everything in the head, I wonder why you're here. Granted, it's fun, but it's also in, you know, EVERY FPS out there. This is a hybrid game, a role playing game, I see no reason to discredit someone's idea for possible new roles to fill because they don't suit your personal play-style, Especially when the idea isn't even detracting from your ability to pursue your style.
