Too hardcoe?

Post » Sun May 15, 2011 6:04 am

I still don't know which I will do first. I was going to play without hardcoe, But now its close to release, I am kind of changing my mind.
I played FO3 a lot and I enjoyed exploring, But being in "God mode" with 1000s of rounds and 200+ insta-stims, did take some fun away from it.

I guess I will have to wait until the 22nd :sadvaultboy: to experience it myself

Myself, I'll be willfully forgetting that a non-hardcoe option is available. :P The game should still be interesting in subsequent play-throughs due to the multitude of options presented to the player and the reactivity of the factions and environments to your actions (if the previews and interviews are to be believed).

I'm playing through hardcoe all the way. If it turns out that it is really extremely hard and I need to turn it off I guess I will.

I agree with both of these, which is why I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to play HC first time around or not. Obviously I played Fallout 3 to death, so I have a decent idea of how it's played. But dying of thirst in a place where water eludes me simply because I'm new...I don't know. It seems like that could be more frustrating than fun.

I suggest playing hardcoe, then if you die of thirst load your last save and turn hardcoe off.

Personaly Im goin hardcoe/normal first. Then hardcoe/very hard. Its the feature Im most excited about.

This really seems to be a matter of personal preference, but this is what I recommend if anybody cares.

1) If you are hesitant because you are worried it will make the game too difficult I suggest turning it on and if you don't like it then turn it off (it can be switched off at any time).

2) If you are saving it for a future playthrough to maintain interest level, that's legitimate (though I'll probably get around 200 hours easily either way) so more power to you.

3) If you are avoiding it because you think deathclaws will drop through your ceiling and eat your face, you're probably right. Best to hide under your bed and leave it to the professionals

Lol. I'm going to play HC mode the first time, because there's never that same love for a character after the first one you create. Your first char feels like your child. You clothe him, bathe him, feed him, give him his first grenade machine-gun, all that good jazz. My plan is going to be to play literally for 4-10 game years. To do that and not go crazy, I'll need something to do other than earn caps and find guns. Eating, sleeping, and drinking regularly will provide me with that, and the mini games certainly won't hurt, unlike fallout 3 (Unless you count skills, which i don't) that had no mini-games whatsoever.

i would if it wasnt for bullet weight.

ill probably only do hardcoe on a melee character. but since its a melee character, itll probably be easy/hardcoe. melee svcks

Melee has never svcked. And it certainly won't svck in New Vegas with hatchets, different moves available in VATS for tactical choices, poisons to coat melee weapons with, throwing weapons like spears that pin individual limbs to walls, the new ability to simply knock enemies unconscious, etc. How could all that possibly svck?

And I thought melee was useless in FO3 until I really focused on making a melee character and ran through with him. With the right stats, skills, and perks, unarmed and melee become uber deadly. Combine that with rampant drug use of things like buffout, psycho, etc. and a high END and STR stat, and your fists become shotgun blasts with no condition to maintain and no ammo to carry. The high END insures you can take whatever damage the enemies are dishing out as you move into range. It is a really fun character build to change things up for a playthrough if you normally only play Small Arms or Sneak characters.

I'm going without it first. I like to wander and explore for days at a time, then loot, store and repeat.

Second character will be all about survival. :tops:
