Gaming isn't progressing?
Consoles are more for casual gamers, in the overrall sense. It's more of a community based thing, for multiplayer and whatnot.
Yes but also currently technology is being held back by their now obsolete hardware and underhand backhanders.
If the technology doesn't progress then the games ultimately won't, they become stagnated like they are at the moment. PC tech far surpasses that of the consoles but game developers (when I say devs I should really point the finger at the publishers) through cash incentives, either through sales or shady boardroom deals will favour the consoles.
Before the days of Microsoft exclusives etc it was the tech that shifted games and consoles, the market had healthy competition that drove the development of both forward at a decent pace. Now someone just chucks a game producer a bung and that's it, end of story. Therefore there is no healthy drive to compete and produce the goods to beat the competitor when they can actually save cash and just chuck a bung as opposed to spending more on some R&D of new hardware.
So what I am saying is, Sony and Microsoft get you fingers out and get a new next gen console out there FFS.
