Will this end like FO3 ended?

I am optimistic as well but I have been burned before so I can't help but have that small amount of doubt. I don't mind not being able to play after the main quest. FO2 has that option and I have only played after the end a couple of times out of the countless times I have played it.

I've never been burned by Obsidian before. Well, unless you count fire-breathing bugs.

At any rate, I knew Todd was, err, highly exaggerating once he came from nine endings to more than a hundred. Seriously, they'd rather not bothered at all than sell "You good/neutral/bad, and you make two things a minute ago!" as an epic ending.

Yep. I was at least expecting to see what long-lasting effect I'd had on places like Megaton/Rivet City/Big Town. I was rather miffed, wondering if I'd somehow missed doing key quests that would've shown me the end results for those places. As it turns out - nope. Guess Todd meant "variations" of endings, but even then I'm not sure the math is quite right. Not that great at math myself.

I don't even think Fo3 simply having an ending was the problem. Fo3 was a great game, but I found the MQ to just be really inadequate. Liam Neeson was great, but it all felt so short and the high drama about who activated the purifier first was poorly explained. I bet if Fo3 had a more robust mq with more face time with adversarial characters like Col. Autumn and a better climactic ending, there would not have been a need for Broken Steel.
