I beat the game on hardcoe and got the steam achievement but no bonus in game? Has anyone else beaten hardcoe and gotten a bonus?

The achievement is the reward.

If so then the game was very misleading when asking if I wanted to play hardcoe mode to get a special bonus

That is your special bonus; it's special because it's exclusive to hardcoe. And it's a bonus because in addition to completing the game and being proud of yourself, you also get the achievement to show it off that you went through the difficult task and arose victorious over the game.

Did you honestly think they were going to give you a butler that was also a free prosttute for your house or something? I mean seriously what did you expect?

I expected some kind of kind of kick ass weapon or something (not that they dont have alot of those already) but it is sorta misleading to say u get something special for beating it on hardcoe specialy with people like me that dont care for achievements/trophies

The achievement means more if your play style is more of the "Run'n'Gun", or melee/unarmed type. If you abuse the overpowered sneak attack criticals to the max hardcoe is just a minor annoyance at best.

Oh, and resist the urge to mass-produce super stimpaks. With a high medicine skill those things, along with a modest number of Doctor's Bags, are just silly in harcore allowing you to play the game exactly like F03.

100 gamer points on the 360 is quite a big reward.

I do not understand how you can justify the achievement as a special bonus. Yeah a cool weapon or a bonus starting trait for future characters or the location of some cool secret place in the wasteland. or one of the small bonus perks you get for other achievements in the game. Any ingame bonus would have sufficed.

Exactly! like what Mass Effect 2 had! get this achievement and u get like certain stuff like 250k (i think) resources on all new characters! helped out quite a bit....or start with like 500k credits! but just and achievement/trophy is a bit of a disappointment

So, according to this thread, by beating the hardest difficulty setting, we should be given something to make the game easier? :boggle:

hardcoe mode was a gift to the numerous people who viewed Fallout 3 as ridiculously easy. The mode itself is our reward, and a rather decent one, I think.

I just created a account to say I agree with Op 100%.

1) It's very misleading, its the equivalent of a NPC offering you a award for completing a quest and then after doing the long and tedious quest your reward is a a achievement/trophy it seems very out of place breaks the immersion and is a huge slap in the face to some players.

2)Their was nothing hardcoe about "hardcoe mode",
2.a)you probably were gonna heal with food anyways+animals drop meat
2.b)sleep wasn't a issue if you slept in a bed at every town you visited for a hour or so
2.c)water you had to go a bit out of your way for at shops
2.d)limb dmg could become a bit of annoyance if you had no bags/hydra(unlikely) unless you were melee/unarmed.

3)t didn't require the user to be on hard mode, therefor someone could slap on easy mode and cost threw "hardcoe" mode

3.5)hard mode doesn't give more XP now /mindboggle

I'm confused. hardcoe mode is too easy and/or can be completed on easy mode but you want an in-game reward for beating it?

The reward being an achievement "breaks the immersion" but the reward only being mentioned in a pop-up help menu and never by an in-game source doesn't? Receiving a bonus or bonus item on a completely separate and new character because another character played through the game in hardcoe doesn't either?

Really? What can I use these gamer points to obtain? So far I have apparently been missing out on all the tangible rewards for the gamer points I have earned over the years.

Also, why is there always someone (not you, specifically) who uses every hardcoe reward thread as a soapbox to lecture everyone about how games svck if they don't make you micromanage stuff like eating food, drinking, sleeping etc? I have been playing on hardcoe and honestly, I have barely had to pay attention to any of that. Other than a couple of fights where my health got low and I could not instantly heal, hardcoe hasn't really changed the game significantly for me at all from what FO3 was. For the people who would always like to remind us that hardcoe mode is its own reward - fair enough. However, if hardcoe mode is truly its own reward, I agree with others who have commented that it is rather deceptive for the game to promise a "special" reward. Just say it is a unique achievement and be done with it. None of this intentionally ambiguous language that makes people think they might get a cool weapon or unique in-game item that they can use in their next play through...

You guys are focusing on the wrong thing. You keep criticizing other users for "wanting" or "expecting" a reward for completing hardcoe mode. The truth is, the only reason anyone expects a reward is because the game says you will get one. If all you get is an achievement, they could have easily just never mentioned the special reward, since being able to play hardcoe is apparently reward enough for many of you. Then when you finish the game your achievement pops up onscreen and you can feel real good about yourself. Why even bother to bring it up at the beginning of the game?

Wow! Old school style man, way to go ^_^!
As for me I agree with the others, it just svcks you can't get a perk,or trait or stuff for your trouble. I'm not upset about it, I just find it lame is all :-/...

just the satisfaction of a few things in the slide show you can't get otherwise such as dead companions and how tragic their lives ended or how they were a martyr blah blah blah. I still havent turned off hardcoe mode. In all honesty it alone sets this game a notch above its peers since it turns the game into "The Wasteland Oregon Trail" and is actually what I expected from FO3. I might never turn it off. The off setting for my hardcoe mode is broken. That is the bonus my friend. That is the bonus...

Would have been nice to get something like an extra 4 or 5 SPECIAL points for your new character so maybe people would put them on normally dump stats like chrisma and experience the game a bit more the next time around.

Am I the only one that actually knew that that little ``bonus`` they mentioned at the start was only the achievement...

As for some new item or something.... I don`t want an item at the start of the game to make it easier. Maybe what they coulda done was to have the Wild Wasteland perk as the ``reward``

But as to the comment made earlier, a butler/prosttute would be a nice addition... Just sayin....
