I was wondering if there would be random weather and a day and night system in place. If not, I hope it will get in.
I know that weather effects can reduce vision, however I think this will add a dynamic aspect in the gameplay.
Running in the fog without knowing what's coming, or only seeing silhouets instead of having clear vision.
With this game mechanic, people will have to adapt to the weather conditions and their effects and will require to change your gaming style.
A. WEATHER
- Clouded
Standard visibility
Standard brightness
--> Everything will be compared to this
- Fog
Reduced visibility
- Rain (+Thunder)
Move slightly slower
Reduced visibility
(Visibility and brightness greatly increased during a lightning)
- Sunny
Increased brightness
Blinded while looking up
Better visibility
- Snowlandscape and sunny
Increased sliding speed
Makes grabbing things more difficult
Increases brightness
- Snowlandscape and clouded
Increased sliding speed
Makes grabbing things more difficult
- Snow (while falling)
Reduced visibility
Increased sliding speed
Makes grabbing things more difficult
B. DAY & NIGHT
Day and night is just for aestethics. I prefer 4 modes: Morning, Day, Evening, Night. However, just day and night would do it.
Why would I like to see this?
- Maps will have 28 different versions of them just by using the suggestions above.
- Maps will have to be played differently, depending on the conditions
- Maps won't get repetitive quickly.
- It adds extra depth to the game because players will need to adapt
- It will always be a surprise how the map will look exactly
- It feels more realistic (I know it's not Brink's objective to be realistic, but I don't think this would hurt the game)
Feel free to add and commentate.
