Ok, got it working for now. First I tried the reload the game thing, since I had upgraded the video driver, I thought that maybe the game wanted to see them during install, no help, probably a waste of tiime. Then unchecked read only box in ini files, no joy, found a downhload for the d3d9.dll file, and put it in the game folder and bingo, saved games load and it plays. Not sure that the graphics are as good as they can be and it looks a bit buggy, but playability trumps all of that for now. Hope that works for you too, cory849, and from what I've read, it should.
