A very, very hard mode.

Post » Mon Mar 21, 2011 8:21 pm

thats the jackpot. and its hard to get. even with a luck of 10.

if you want easy money play blackjack. with a high luck you always get 20 or 11 right away. then you double down on the 11 and almost always get something worth 10 or an ace

Black jack is easy money, but it doesn't give you 40k in caps. Try actually reading the thread for the context of that discussion.

not in one casino. the biggest limit is 15k. and the chances of getting the jackpot on the slots (is it 40k? i dunno) are very very slim. gotta be really lucky or have too much free time to get that.

and again, try playing with only brass knuckes and a chained prosttute outfit.

It's not "very slim". You don't have to hit the jackpot. You just need to break the limit by a large margin. again, I told you to READ the thread and you clealy have not. I only mentioned it because a troll here who clearly has no idea about anything in FNV said it was impossible to even make 100k.

nowhere in this thread did you say anything that would indicate youre not talking about the jackpot. take your own advice and read the thread crabby.

if you want a challenge heres a completely legitimate suggestion: go get some ninja gaiden games, or demons souls. that game actually gets harder the more you lose.

Then don't play the game. There's no reason to limit yourself like this just because you think it's too easy. Raise the difficulty or play another game.

EDIT: Roleplaying nonsense? You're playing a [censored] RPG. The game advertises itself as Fallout New Vegas. You buy the game, you play it. If it's too easy you raise the difficulty/play in hardcoe mode. The way you want to play this is playing a "crappy character." There's absolutely no reason to take away features of the game.

Come read this post in a few years. You'll be surprised at how foolish you sounded when you were that young.

My, what a bad-tempered thread.

Suggestions:

- skip armour, just wear a pre-war suit.

- no chems or stimpacks whatsoever.

- only fight unarmed.

- keep yourself crippled the entire game.

Yes, I did. Trollboy had said it was impossible to even win 40k in ALL the casinos. I told him he could win 40k with one pull on a slot machine. thats when you started mumbling about completely unrelated blackjack having either not read the exchange or not having the reading comprhension to understand what you read.

Vendur, you're being an ass. You posted a topic here, people are answering you. You have no right to dictate what people's opinions and suggestions are unless they go against forum rules. You can't waltz in here and insult members that have been here for years, simply because you don't approve of their answers.

We realize it's your thread, but it's not your forum. If you're going to accuse people of being ignorant trolls, at least do a better job of telling us what you want out of this thread. What we see is someone who thinks the game is too easy, so we're giving you suggestions to make it harder. Most of them have been serious. If you don't approve of them, don't play with them. But you need to calm down and get a sense of humor.

you said you could get 40k with one spin of a slot machine. in no way indicating that you werent talking about a jackpot (because if you already have say 14999 caps won than its not really just one machine spin now is it?) and i said thats the jackpot and its unlikely you will ever get it, and that its much easier to get money playing blackjack.

what part confused you?

I'm not being an ass. I won't tolerate trolls. IThe OP is pretty obvious. I only asked one question in my entire first post, and it only had a grand total of two sentences in it. I specifically asked what people thought was overpowering in the game, not for a bunch of stupid "uh duh, make a character that only raises melee/unarmed weapon skills and use explosive weapons instead!"

I read the first post of this thread, and then I read the second post. If anyone is being an ass, it's you my friend.

He asked a simple, very basic, question. He wanted suggestions on how to limit _his_ game to make it more difficult/challenging. In no way was he forcing any changes on your character or anyone elses for that matter.

There have been good suggestions on this thread. Unfortunately, all you have done is stir the pot with unnecessary posts and troll-bait.

To be fair, you asked for ways to make the game more challenging, people provided some (some of which were more serious than others), and then you started calling people "trolls". I would second the advice that you calm down.

To remain on-topic, some more suggestions:

- try a diplomat/pacifist run. No fatalities allowed.

- play 'dead is dead'.

I found it much easier and faster to win at Caravan than to make money at the casinos. So I didn't even bother gambling. I still picked up pretty much every piece of loot I found because I'm a pack rat. Anyway, I limited myself too because I still found the game a little too easy, not as easy as FO3 though.

I'm not claiming this is very very hard mode but I limited myself to melee/unarmed only pretty much using just Chance's knife wearing only clothing under 5 DT. No firearms at all. I did use companions at first but ditched them halfway through. I tried not to use stimpacks and only use food to heal (survival) but it didn't pan out when I ran into carazadors and deathclaws.

I'm not saying everyone should play this way but for some people like me, it's a heck of a lot of fun.

I'm playing a very similar character as my second playthrough now. So far it's working very well. The only time I have to use stimpacks is versus a pack of cazadores or a pack of deathclaws.

As the third play through, I'm going to attempt to play a full pacifist character with fatigue weapons.

I'm gonna try one of those too, I'm not sure how do-able it is but I aim to find out.

Just set you luck to 1 on character creation. That'll pretty much kill make gambling impossible.

As for the rest....Just play a Melee/Unarmed character on Very Hard+hardcoe. That should prove to be plenty hard.

Want more of a challenge? Don't pick the over powered perks like jury rigging, hand loading, finesse, better criticals but pick fun ones like cannabalism, mysterious stranger & miss fortune, ect.

Make sure to get that robot perk then. or do you qualify" shutting down" a robot as "non-pacifist" action.

You do give me a good idea for a game though, to try to get through as much of the the game as possible without ever killing anything. Intersting idea. But of course thats a bit different than the drive of this thread. More of a "theme character" or "theme playthrough".

Try setting up your character to real world spec.s and play to real world conditions. Set your S.P.E.C.I.A.L.s to your own real world attributes. How much weight can you carry while running? Can you keep that up all day. How long can you go without eating, sleeping, drinking whilst carrying said weight and still be capable of making rational decisions. Try sneaking, fighting or even walking while crouched with 100 pounds of gear. It's imposible. So if you need to fight or sneak around in game try dropping all your gear . Do you use drugs in real life? How about medical experiance? Don't use fast travel or vats. Save your game before you leave the doctors house and whenever you die, start over. Limit your weapons to one rifle, one sidearm and one knife(or similar real weapon. No super sledge, power fist etc.) Only carry a few explosives at a time. Only carry 100 rounds of primary ammo and a few clips worth of secondary ammo. Do the same for your companion if you use one. Did a land mine blow off your leg? Start over. Did your head take max damage? Start over. What about skill books? How much do you read in real life. Better yet, how much of what you read do you comprehend. If you read a service manual for a car and when you were done still had no idea how to work on it, then what would make you think you could perform surgery on a severly wounded man after reading a medical journal or magazine once. How about your survival skills. Adjust your S.P.E.C.I.A.L.s and skills to reflect you in real life and be honest with your self.(We all like to give ourself more credit than we're due.) And play with all of the inconveniances of real life, then see how challenging the game is.

Then report the alleged trolls. Flaming people who respond to a post in a forum is against the rules of the forums. Accusing people of being trolls is flaming here.

7. Flaming is not allowed.

Insulting individuals or groups of members and name calling are flames. Any remark that is made to insult another member or group of members will be considered a flame and thus you may receive a warning for it.
Calling people a troll or an apologist for instance can both be considered a flame as can calling someone stupid or ADD.

This is closed.

If the op wants, a new thread can be started, with the restrictions noted, "What aspects of the game do you find overpowering? No suggestions to nerf a character, just the things you think are overly powerful."
