It'll be tough... I just downloaded the GECK; (I assume that I can't install it without first installing FO:NV).

I see why you'd not open it, but I myself wouldn't be able to keep the game inside the box for more than five seconds. I would literally give anything to be able to play it the very moment I'm writing this. Sadly, I'll have to wait another three days for it to arrive. :S Just open it, man. Do it for all of us that weren't lucky enough to get the game as soon as you did.

I opened everything and have already fingerf***ed it all.

As much as I dont have that desire for pristine collectibles myself, I think you should not open it.If you have the mature willpower to not play the game now, then why not make some scrilla from it in the future?

Its your choice friend, and either way is the right decision.

Can't install the GECK without installing the game, and can't hold the book while its in the box. :shrug:

I may still not play until I patch it though.

**I'm impressed by the artist for the card deck. The cards from the same casinos have the same back image, but the wear & tear pattern is different, as though they were each handled often and creased & scuffed up separately. (of course, this may have been done at the printers')

They aren't worth anything later, are they? We are not talking about Super Nintendo games or FFVII here. I tend to buy CEs of games I have a really good feeling I will enjoy and just keep good care of them. I don't really see FO:NV becoming an "OMG, look what I have in the attic" Eleventy-billion dollara super find. I opened my CE and am enjoying it thoroughly. I suggest you do the same.

This is a a stupid idea for a thread.

I wonder if the original purchasers for these SNES or FFVII carts or memorabilia had this in mind when they first purchased their items. When Final Fantasy was selling well in the Electronics Botique I bought FFVII at, I picked up a few of the 'action figures' that represented the game. Namely a Vincent and a Sephiroth. They had all the little pieces that went with their characters and were sealed with clear plastic tape to their card displays that were printed in the obviously imported Kanji or Katikana or what have you. I put the figurines away and checked again in 10 years to see what the accrual on their value was. For the Sephiroth, it was being sold for around 50 dollars last I checked.

With the hassle of finding a buyer, shipping and the pitfalls that can occur in any cash transaction, I eventually gifted it to a family member who was developing an interest in anime and art in general.

I guess where I'm going with this is you can set things aside and keep them mint-in box. But the extra bit of money that sacrifice may bring your way ultimately isn't worth what you will have missed out on by not experiencing the charm of the content you purchased in the first place. For me, the 'purchased as an investment' mentality I took towards the action figures ultimately left me detached from the purchase in the first place. I couldn't appreciate their value, as it had very little other than an investment for me, which is why it was so easy to just gift it away.

In my opinion, you would be better off to enjoy what you have than to squirrel it away on the slim chance that one day, every other copy of the collector's edition were to be destroyed, leaving yours as the last copy on Earth.

On topic.Reading about the goodies in the CE has made me want it now.Too late I suppose, I dont want two copies of the same game.Enjoy it OP.

it would be faster to get a decent education and makes some money than wait 10 years and double your money and once you factor in inflation you actually made a loss cause you purchased the game twice.

Well I did open it, I read the manual, the graphic novel, and watched the Making of DVD. Later I installed it, and installed the GECK. I haven't run the game yet, but I plan to go over my FO3 mods and see how they work in NV.

I plan to play the game later tonight, just past PC creation and into the open world, then save the game and use it to test mods. (can't afford to be left behind )

I don't plan to dive into the game itself until after the first patch or two. (In FO3 later patches broke as well as fixed, so I believe I will wait until it settles down some)


Not really... The CE has a wrapped copy of the game inside it... but I was originally speaking of the CE box itself; (which I later opened up by request ~good too... The Making of DVD was cool, and IIRC it was an hour long.)
