Has anyone been mauled by 5 deathclaws

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 3:36 am

Always carry some Turbo+, if you are discovered by more then one Deathclaw, remove your armour (it won't save you from 5 and it will slow you down), drink a Turbo+ and bravely RUN AWAY!

I love that you're being chased by a flaming deathclaw, lol.

I think setting them on fire with a grenade gun just makes them run faster
Nearby was a Powder Ganger post so I made a beeline for that. Not that it helped me much. Oh well.

Yeah, that happened to me too.
I'm still trying to figure out how to get into Quarry Junction without being killed, because my sneak is not great :/

Its actually relatively simple. If you can go to the "makeshift great khan encampment" then up the hill to the "great khan encampnet" you can walk all the way around the top of the quarry and get on to most of the buildings, escalators etc and take out the deathclaws from there!

Three words.
Spoiler
Dead. Wind. Cavern.

Try without a silenced weapon, in fact, go in unarmed just for the lulz. Nothing beats punching the head clean off the Legendary's shoulders.

That area has got deathclaws allover the place...in and around the quarry..
I spent ages picking them off with the sniper rifle and ratslayer .
they stretch right down to bonnie springs.. I must have taken down about 60 of them in my game.

The first and most important rule to successful Deathclaw hunting indeed.

I couldn't get there.
Admittedly, my sneak's been pretty low up to now, but I'm working on it.
Also! I found that Tesla gun. Oh my....*shivers* That's something awesome! So I'm stockpiling stealthboys and powerful guns and AP ammo...then going to try again :)

Spoiler
Just for the lulz I went straight into Dead Wind Cavern and saved before meeting the Legendary Deathclaw. I went ahead to see if its remotely possible to 1 shot the monsterously large creature. Shooting the beast in the head and getting a sneak critical off with the Unique Gauss rifle and Max charge rounds (which btw REALLY effs up the condition of your gun :cryvaultboy: ) and 100 to energy weapons worked :celebration:

i have good sneak.and stealth boys. I was aware that sneaking and stealthboys mean nothing to a Blind DC. I forgot that piece of info. I found Eastern Rail, saw a blind dc. i started to back away. ED-E decided that it no longer enjoyed life and charged in, Veronica right behind him. next thing I know, I'm being killed by 4 blind DC's, and about 6 or 7 small blind DC's. I didn't even have a chance to turn around to run.

I tried to take on one Deathclaw. With Neil. He died and I ran away. The only other time I took on Deathclaws I sneak killed a baby from a pretty far away distance. I thought to myself, these things are no tougher than the ones in FO3. I went up to it to get the meat and thought, "They are smaller too." I turned around to walk away and bumped into an advlt Deathclaw. Must've been it's mother. Must've pissed it off. Cause, I died.

Now, I run from Deathclaws. I run as far and as fast as I can. I need some more companions and bigger guns. Like nukes. Nukes should take them out.

Needless to say, the NCR is not getting their lime to make cement. Ever.

lol first time i went to the deathclaw promontory i got ganged by like 7 deathclaws -_- .Tbh the saddest moment of my life nothing i could do but take it .I had 15 frag mines i knew it was tough and scary but id be damned if i knew how tough it trully is.Atleast in this game death claws arent a insult to the previous fallouts. If u plan to get the enclave remnant armour horde mines frag and higher no bull 20 or more atleast.EQUIP boone with buch gun or this machine 308 jsp.Tbh this is one of the few places that earn the rite to be mini nuked but u can guss how that works LMFAO.

well if any of you know where sloan is I thought what the heck I just put up a stealth boy and run through the area . I get less the half way through and I see that ed-e was unconscious. I keep going next I see 4 deathclaw right in front of me. I run back to a truck and climb in the back of the truck and hide.

It seemed like every deathclaw in the area decided to come by and check out the truck. There were at least 10 around me, but it only took one to push his way through the truck walls and kill me in one hit.

That stretch of land is all right. Nowhere near the challenge of the South West where you have packs of almost every kind of deathclaw. Then there's the cave with packs of Deathclaws. That one is fun. I finally managed to kill the 'Legendary Deathclaw' using myself as bait while Boone pumped plasma into him with that unique rifle from RIPCONN headquarters.
But seriously, Deathclaws go down horribly fast if you're melee/unarmed spec. Grab a Supersledge, peircing blow, and super slam. Heavy Handed and a high Str are a must as well. You pretty much can mow through a group. Of course I did it in Reinforced combat armor mark 2 with toughness 2, subdermal armor and stonewall. I went through the Southwest deathclaw packs for the Remnant Armor and wore that after. Anyway, deathclaws show a broken shield to the super sledge. I don't know if that's piercing blow doing it, though.
Adding Unstoppable force and Slayer perks helps against human opponents as well as picking up Lord Death. Getting 'Abominable' also helps with the claws. Anyway, long story short... melee equals dead Deathclaws by the dozens.

This game has them in groups so try use silencers or go on rocks where they cannot hit you :)

now, when i went to get the remmenant armour from the promiatory, I went up into the ridge where they couldn't get to me. I gave boone an anti-material rifle and 300 ap rounds. I armed myself with the missile launcher and high explosive missiles. ED-E was bait. after 30 minutes of real time, I managed to clear the area. took me all 200 missiles that i brought with me. I hate the [censored] deathclaws.

I was able to kill my first Deathclaw yesterday at level 28, it made me feel so badass as i've spent the whole game running away from them.

Then after that success i went deathclaw hunting and realised that i can now kill them, due to a few factors - 25dt power armour, unique super sledge, psycho + med ex + slasher combo, perk that gives 50% damage to melee damage vs deathclaws, perk that lets me knock them down sometimes, Lily as a companion to take a few blows.

They're still scary tho.

Hit them from a far. Getting up close and personal is suicide, unless you're a whiz at unarmed/melee combat, and have the perks/skills to do so. Even then, thinning out the herd before you go toe-to-toe isn't a bad plan.
