I do like rolling with the punches in a game, which is why often don't reload an old save when I screw something up in the story (aside from ED-E dying, I love that little bugger with his occasional random assaults on civilians). However, I think making up a story to explain away a bug like this is beyond my personal ability to roleplay.
I did decide to pick it back up. There was always this nagging at the back of my mind as I played about the broken quest-line, but I played through it. I followed Benny to Caesar's fort and began to get drawn in again. I was finally seeing the big threat to the Mojave on its own turf. And it felt cool when Arcade asked what we were doing here, and I said we were just taking stock of the enemy. It was cool because I meant it. Then, I get sent by Caesar into the bunker and find there a Mr. House terminal. The very first thing he said was something to the effect of, "I'm very disappointed you didn't accept my invitation to the Lucky 38. It was quite an honor I extended to you."
I turned the game off on the spot.

I know it is a reminder to the broken quest line. Very annoying. However, I did some thinking, is a broken quest line really so bad one cannot play the game anymore?
It will get patched and if not, they should allow us to get a free patched copy on game disc from bethesda as compensation.
(for bethesda : Cars get pulled back all the time for problems, same with other type of products, even simple house hold items can be called back. Perhaps you should do the same with bugs you cannot fix by a simple patch, but instead fix it still and create a new mother disc. Then recall the broken game discs you have distributed.)
