Much as I'm liking this game, If....

you lose for calling KOTOR crud. you lose completely, and for that i hope you run into an invisible wall trying to get into the lucky 38 and your entire game is ruined :celebration:

Ahh you misunderstand. Kotor was a brilliant game that I played through many many times. But playing that game I knew what I was getting. A toon that couldn't jump and very controlled and funneled storyline. I know how it looks by reading what I wrote but my intent was not to call the game crud but rather the aspect of Kotor and NWN inviso-walls everywhere in a Free play sandbox RPG. My mistake for not being clear. In other words... as relates to Fallout:

...freedom of movement = Good
...Restricted movement = Bad

fair enough?

There's just no reasoning with you, is there? :shakehead:

I'm pretty sure Jorge Salgado, aka Oscuro, creator of OOO (Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul) which is the best and most well known overhaul mod for Oblivion, wouldn't lie to us.

I'm pretty sure that's the definite reason. If you don't believe me or him, try consulting him or one of the other devs about it. I'm sure they'd be happy to tell you why.

OOO is the mod that saved Oblivion from being a blah game to being something you could actually play for more than a couple weeks. Oscuro gave a great deal of himself to that work and to the community and I'm glad to see he's working in the field. That's awesome. It still doesn't mean I'm going to swallow that explanation hands down. The fact that he made OOO the most beloved lmod in Oblivion History has nothing to do with the issue at hand. I am, however, inclined to at least give him some benefit of the doubt but not utterly no. This therefor that doesn't apply.

Let me get this clear..you were trying to get on place where AI was not capable of getting to , so you can have easy "I win" button, and since you couldn't do that, it's "bad design" decision.I can't stand games with linearity and walls , but if (like in this case) that will prevent us from abusing AI , then i can accept it.From what i am seeing Obsidian spent time trying to level playing field for us and AI.Not that game is hard anyways , since i am playing on HC/VH and not having any issues.

And there is your answer about what was their main reason for "invisible walls"...

Then it is a fail because you can still get up there if you want to just be "out of reach." That is not the issue. The issue is not being able to cross over areas we traditionally would be able to. And frankly I didn't use companions so I never had a problem with them dying.

It's not that I'm looking for a "Win button" as you put it. If someone is inclined to use the game against itself a person can still go that. It's plenty easy to get out of reach of creatures. It's not easy however avoiding them altogether because of the walls. We're forced to go through or near. Good grief people....lol Really have to wonder sometimes. Guess there's always gonna be yes men. :P

The biggest problem with the invisible walls is their invisibility. You don't want me to go in that direction? Put a sheer cliff or a mountain of rubble or something in my way. Don't let me see a path but not be able to walk it.

Exploring the wasteland, actually traversing the terrain, is no fun in NV. Just stick to the roads, it gets old repeating the same routes but at least there are no invisible barriers.
