Increase level cap?

haha

why didnt they make it like FO1/2? no level caps in those games, it just made the higher levels require Ridiculous amount of experience to get to. iirc, once you got past level 60 it became wholly impractical to try and get more skill points.

I'd rather they didn't increase the level cap. As it is, you are already pretty powerful by level 30. I really don't want to go down the slippery slope of Broken Steel and end up with an invincible character that can hack a computer, pick a lock, heal a sick person, charm anyone, and use guns, lasers, and whatever other weapons are at hand.

Perhaps if they raised the skill cap alongside the level cap, I'd be on board. If you introduce new weapons and new locks/hacks that require 150 or so skill points, that might help with balance. Although it'd be easier to just leave the cap at 30 and call it a day.

Fallout 1 had a level cap, 21.
And I don't think an unlimited level cap with incredible exp requirements is for the best.

Id say keep the lvl cap where it is to avoid “god” characters, but allow a means for acquiring some new Perks, so you can still advance your character a little

I was level 30 and did most of the game and still did not have the 3rd rank of the "lord of death" type challenge... You gots to get a lot of killing blows and if your helpers are getting the last hit in, well it takes a lot longer then.

raising the level cap in Fallout 3 broke the game, it should stay as is in NV.

Well it definitely seems like raising level cap would be a bad idea then.

So how about just adding an invisible perk that is gained at new character creation and given to any existing characters that globally decreases exp gained by 15-20% if exp to be gained is more than say 5?

What makes me laugh is that level caps are a very very old mechanic , and outdated mechanic. Yet its still used. But only in western RPG's?lol!
Yes please up the level cap. It's stupid and annoying.

Well I agree in general but it would help if you expanded on what you think would be an improvement over the system. There are quite a few RPG schemes and if you could provide one that would fit well into the Fallout universe then perhaps it could lead to a more interesting discussion.

hehe Broken steel may not have done some things right but the increased level cap did at least add some more hours of fun. i just hope if they do increase the cap they do it right and not half ass it like they did the New vegas map i mean at least i hope they make use of that 20-35% of the map and not just make it some little path with nothing on it.

I do hope they at least will have a few more random encounters because in the open wastes it feels empty not enough enemies or patrols.

Too bad they raised the level cap with that add-on after the first two (? Operation Anchorage, The Pitt) add-ons came out. Such wasted XP.

I'm always against any type level cap.

My issue is the stop of character growth, the end of improvement, and the cessation of leaning implied by the very concept. Whenever I hit the max level in a game, it seems to loose something as I no longer have the anticipation of adding anything new to my character.

I understand the issues with becoming a god and essentially walking over anything in the game, but there must be a better way to prevent this than the stagnation of a cap. Oblivion was pretty good about it with the leveling beasties (although far from perfect).

they could just make it so you can still level up but you only get perks and skills every 5 levels. that would take a bit to make you god like.

after level 30 or something.
