What does the "RCW" acronym stand for on the Laser R

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 11:49 am

After a Google search of "acronyms RCW" the only one that vaguely makes sense is "Recirculating Cooling Water" and that's a stretch.

Rapid Capacitor Weapon.

EDIT: The admittedly simplistic idea is that the ECP loaded into the "drum" area is powering banks of capacitors in the "drum" around it that fire in rapid succession to give the weapon its high RoF.

Thanks for this one. I only got 1 of 3 words wrong! :-)

Keep up the good work guys. Best Fallout since 2.

Thanks for letting us know, glad to see someone from Obsidian watching the forums. Always like to see the gamesas guys around too of course. :D

Rays Come Within, you know Laser rifle, rays within the rifle? RAYS RIFLE WITHIN? I should give up.
This is frustrating.

Nonsense, why would an Obsidian employee have answers? jk, but I'll admit it doesn't have the allure of the YCS (your console svcks) acronym.

"A post on the gamesas forums by Josh Sawyer revealed that the RCW acronym stands for "Rapid Capacitor Weapon."" This is how you enter the twilight zone.

Good call. I would think this the most plausible option given the heavy influence of Niko Tesla on FO lore. While looking up information about a resonance coil weapon I discovered this PDF which is really fascinating. It describes Rail Guns and the Gauss Rifle with information on how they would work. It is from a guy that has apparently built semi functional prototypes.

Well, Tesla, much like DaVinci, was a man with an intellect FAR before his time.
