Thanks for the input guys! Really appearciate it. Could someone also plz post maybe where to exactly put special points for a melee/unarmed char and maybe what skills i should focus on geting up as i level?
Thanks again.
Since you haven't done a close combat build before I'd suggest a stealth character - and in this case you'll find Silent Running (12) to be absolutely vital. The real difficulty with close combat characters is closing in, a high agility will boost your speed as will lighter equipment. The Travel Light (4) perk augments that even further although I'm ambivalent about raising my survival score so high, the skill itself doesn't appeal to me much. A high strength gets you more bonus damage (for melee and unarmed), a higher melee skill, and access to the more powerful weapons. A high endurance gets you a higher unarmed skill and more hitpoints which, as with agility, helps with closing in.
I just started a melee/unarmed character, I'm specifically staying away from stealth (I did that a lot with FO3) so I wouldn't suggest copying this directly. Part of the build focus is getting my critical chance very high, if you remove some of those poerks there should be room for some stealthy ones.

6 Toughness
8 Super Slam
10 Finesse
12 Unstoppable Force
14 Purifier
16 Better Criticals
18 Piercing Strike (12)
20 Stonewall (8)

24 Slayer
As for trains I've got Built to Destroy (to boost my crit chance) and Trigger Discipline (if I have to use a ranged weapon my accuracy is going to svck since my skills are so low, this will help).
