my favorite part of the game

Just as the title says, my favorite part of all the fallout games is the first few hours. Where you are broke, hungry, out of ammo, and lost in a seemless world.

As soon as you start stockpiling weapons/ammo/moneys the game looses it's flare... And it turns into an exploration game. Which is also great.

But the best part is that first few hours where you have to pick up coffee mugs with 1 value just to make a living.

I agree completely. Oh WOW! A half broken Cowboy Repeater! :celebration:

And now in Vegas i have more guns and ammo than Finland's army ^_^

And more money too :D

I agree completely. Half the fun is starting a new character. Hang around Goodsprings for a while, maybe occupy a shack for a few in-game days.. Gives you a nice wasteland wanderer feel...ya know considering the fact you've been left for dead and you don't know why. :sadvaultboy:

Absolutely. Once you hit the point of endless supplies there is a massive gameplay sink.

That's how I feel. Personally, I enjoy playing w/ HC mode on and only bring a rifle and a sidearm when exploring. Bring the ammo for those weapons, 3 or 4 stimpacks, food, and water. Keeps the spirit of the first 5 hours of gameplay consistent throughout the playthrough.

Agreee x1000! When I first got to Primm was the only time I ever felt challenged and threatened. I limped through the whole place after getting a dynamite in the face at the start (hardcoe Mode) and found myself hiding behind stuff a lot.

I'm on my third playthrough now with 130h invested into this game. I absolutely love it and it is an improvement over fallout 3. Reminds me of fallout 2 more than anything.

But I don't know why this game gives the player a massive amount of resources this early. You have 10+ bobby pins before you leave goodsprings. What's the point in bobby pins for locks when the game floods you with them? Why not just have one universal bobby pin, not like you'll ever run out if you use them one by one... Every lock that is located in the game has practically 3-4 bobby pins within walking distance of it.

The whole feeling of the earlier fallout, and even fallout 3 to some respect, is the fact that it's a wasteland. It took a while to make a foothold and get up and running. But I just left goodsprings on my third character and I have 3000+ caps walking to primm, a modded 9mm with 300 ammo and a cowboy repeater, not to mention a ridiculous amount of food.

My favorite part of these games is the fact that you have to cherry pick what you will spend you spare resources on, adds a lot to the RPG element of the series. But unfortunately in 5 hours of playing fallout NV you have everything you will ever need, and then some.

I found the beginning to be pretty lackluster compared to previous Fallouts. I had no real connection to anything and didn't really care about this chip I was supposed to deliver. In my opinion of course.

"Someone tried to kill me, i think i'll get out of here before he tries again." Would be my line of thinking. But the point of thread was "you and a broken 9mm pistol vs. the wasteland" feeling :D

Completely disagree. It's clearly evident that a lot of work was put into goodsprings and the surrounding areas. The first section of the game does an excellent job of immersing the player into the game and gives a general understanding of the conflicts within the game.

I agree that this game reaches the easy point way too early. I just got FO3 last month and found it too easy but got svcked into all the hype around New Vegas and caved in. The game is great but sheesh give me a challenge. I'm trying a melee run with just Chance's Knife to see what it will be like and so far so good but I am only level 7. I seriously started about 30 characters since I got the game. Highest level so far has been 17.

i agree. the game is more fun when you haven't got a stimpack to your name. it makes you thin k more strategically

i walked the entire way to novac with two broken legs, 1 broken arm and broken ribs after being ambushed by the gun runners between the NCR outpost and Nipton. gives you more adrenalin.
