... and filling out a list of the other 10% would be tough to manage (and would be mostly arcade cabinets).

However, I DO know two games that would be on that list.

Fallout
Fallout 2

Except in games with enforced save schemes (like Diablo or Borderlands), I'm saving constantly. Console or PC. (Save-point games like the Final Fantasy games, I save every time I find a save point. Anywhere-save games, it's whenever something important happens, or just every so often.)

Safety first, and all that.... why risk losing all the time you've put into something?

I know, kids with their spoiled saving system.

I just don't know why does it take all the wisdom from forums to tell people to MAKE A GOD DAM SEPARATE SAVE when NPC tells you "this is it, do everything you should before we go".

Because of the immense scripting and in game changes that would be required to update the game after the final fight this game has a logical ending. Going beyond would most likely end in masses of horrible bugs.

Couldn't be any worse than the masses of horrible scripting bugs in the game before the logical ending.

You might want to consider revising that strategy. Not just for FO:NV either.
