Lack of Dungeons (in FO:NV)

I despised the impassable piles of rubble which forced me to crawl through countless generic subways.

They can't please everyone, unfortunately.

I thoroughly enjoyed that aspect of FALLOUT3, even the moments when I found myself turned around / lost my bearings. Those walls seemed to bear down on me oppressively. The subways were a little generic, granted. Thing is, I take the subway every day to work and it is pretty generic down there - though the stations are absolutely unique. Don't know about station design in DC, though; I live in Montreal were no two stops look the same.

Like I said, one man's treasure and all that . . .

One more thing: I restarted the game with a new character and I'm taking more time to smell the roses as it were.

Great dungeon in NEW VEGAS: the REPCONN facility. Creepy, large, complex with a good quest line and some fun backstory.

Terrific stuff.

I love that some of the vaults in FO:NV are actually populated, and not just by things that want to kill you. I love the vault exploration, and really like knowing what each experiment was in each of them, yet I tend to get lost in a few of them. Vault 34 is prime example. So I tend to like the caves that people have built houses in, then got over taken by raiders. If I come across a location, I explore it, which leads to a lot of sidestepping missions and activating new ones.

A lot of the boarded up and empty buildings in New Vegas give me the impression that Obsidian really wanted to do something with those places, but simply ran out of time.
Same with the terminals in the game, I came across a lot of intact terminals I just couldn't interact with.

They focused on getting right what was most important and just didn't have time to fill in the details. I'm guessing DLC will make use of a lot of the placeholders. I'm sure they will be quest related though, and not just random dungeons. Which is fine. I think if the empty places in New Vegas have a point to them a lack of random dungeons won't be such a big problem.

Although I do prefer the exploration of FO3, it's just not the point of New Vegas.

I don't get that, sorry. Given the popularity of FO3 and it's theme and abilities, NOT to include this in a new 'version' smacks of silly arrogance on the part of the new developers. By all means put in new and improved quests etc but don't leave out your strengths.
