-- A perk attached to survival, since survival is used for preparing food.

-- Level 4, skill 25 rank 1 you can tame young animals.
Level 10, skill 50 rank 2 you can tame normal animals, The animal can now fetch items like Dog Meat.
Level 20, skill 75 rank 3 you can tame mature animals,
Level 30, skill 100 Rank 4 you can tame "legendary" versions of the animals.

-- No insects like roaches and scorpions....

-- You can only have 1 pet at a time and it takes the place of Rex or ED-E.

-- You can heal them using food instead of stimpacks and they receive temporary stat bonuses from it.

-- You can name it. ( Essential!!!!! )

-- You can bet on them in fights with Red Lucy's animals. You bet on them in fights against slaves in Legion camps.

I think that would be feasible.

I am thinking of how proud I would be of my cuddly, wuddly mole-rat and not trying to viciously exploit it for personal gain. :P

EDIT: perhaps put a week cooldown on pit fights... or make it so the animal will turn on you if you do it more than once every so often.

Yea i know, just saying. But i love the idea... and others would bet on and against your animal. You could train them (They level up: Max level 15). Then you could have them test there skills against your choice of things, rather it be fiends or other creatures.

Yea i like that if you treat it badly it will turn on you... that would be cool, tho you could most likely easily kill it. But then your poor little animal, would be dead!

I want a gecko myself.... they are cute/funny, and they are strong. I feel so bad when i shoot a gecko in the head and cripple its head.

He puts his hands on his head and whimpers. It makes my stomach sink.

This would be a good way to capture them, but eventually you could take them off after they begin to trust you.

I thought about it some more and I think the level 30 legendary pets should be tamed through a quest sort of like how wastelander24 suggests...

take the perk, find a book on the pet type you want, prepare a meal for it to attract it to ya, and name it.... quest complete!

The books could have a short data entry about the backstory of the animal and how it earned its "legendary" status.

Yea, im glad you agree to the book thing. And not all the book's would be easy to find. You would have to find them all over the map, some merchants might have them, they might also have them in thier scrap storage things they just lug around but never sell.

knowing what makes an animal kick will help you lure it to you. For legendary and advlt creatures you will need Cerebral Control Devices (CCD's) these will almost prevent the monster from using its natural instinct to kill you. In this time you will train it, after it becomes to trust you, you can take it off.

CCD devices will cost 2-4k caps, but are guarented to work, also if your science or repair skill is high enough there would be a CCD that was made to be Reusable. Problem is, it broke, and no one knows how to fix it. That is why you need a high repair or science.

Uhhh... how? Maybe WoW Reeks of Fallout.... wait Nvm that aint possible Fallout is way better. Alot of MMO's have taming not just wow. That should not prevent the funnes that could come from haveing a mutated animal.

It is just like a companion, you can only tame 2 at any time, and only have one on you at any time. It would be nothing like WoW, i highly doubt you will sit there taming a deathclaw and say, "Eww, this smells like WoW, or maybe Deathclaw Dung."

Taming is a great concept to add into RPG games, it adds an entire new way to play the game. Just adding in a simple Taming Perk could add 50+ hours to the game, and if you don't belive me read what people have said about this idea.

There would be quest you could do, in wich you have to tame animals for people, there would also be tons of creatures to tame, and even be able to pit your animal in the thorn, or against things in Ceasers Arena.

My point was that taming is just a really MMO type of thing, companions are good enough.

These would be companions! Just now you can get that gecko, or mole rat, and they don't have to keep adding in new companions. It only takes 5 minutes to get yourself an animal if you had the skill for it. True RPG games have things like taming, i think it would be a nice concept in this game.

It is a gimmick that always players who want greater customization and collectability something to sink their teeth into. It also adds more depth to the "wasteland survivalist" role play without being overpowered. A bit more role playing for a trade-off in perks.

Like i said for most these will only be used at first. But if you capture an advlt Deathclaw, they will need to keep it on at all times, and if it breaks, well your running the risk of a deathclaw sneak attacking you.

They might be animals in bed, but sadly they are Human not animal.

Then again.....

This is just a random thought (Kinda off topic)

What if, (I know alot of you will hate this idea), there was a way of fixing your gun without other guns. To do this, you would need a hammer, like in oblivion, but then you need a work bench or realoding bench. (You can also use a piece of cloth, but it does not fix as much). When you aproach the workbench, it will ask you to build, or to repair. With a gun it would add in a mini game were you have to hit your gun and bend it into place, or get the dents out of it. With armour you would do the same thing. Then there is cleaning your gun. In this you would use the cloth and clean the inside of the barrel, to try and unclog it.

Maybe it would be one pet(Rex/Ed-E) or two tamed creatures? and Im guessing Legendary's are out of the question to tame?

I really really want a pet Fire Gecko and Nightstalker.

If pets can be tamed at the very least deathclaws shouldn't be tamable because it would just be silly. Cazadores however, would be cool as a pet.
