Unique Recipes Perks question ^_^

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 8:09 am

Hello everybody,

Do Perks like: Hand Loader, Vigilant Recycler and Nuka Chemist add some new recipies which are not available
in any way other than taking the perk or do they simply make them available early on without having to fulfill all the skill requirements?

Cheers

As far as I'm aware the recipes are not available if you don't have the perk, however having said that I have not yet found any other way of getting the recipes so I could be mistaken in my belief.

Hand loader is a must IMO, I have not yet come across any other way to acquire some of the best ammo.

Description of the V.Recycler from Fallout Wikia mentions some recipies:

When you use Energy Weapons, you are more likely to recover drained ammunition. You also have more efficient recycling recipes available at the wasteland's Workbenches.
The efficient recycling recipes make you twice as likely to recover drained cells when you use Energy weapons, reduce the cost of recharging drained cells from four to three

It may also be possible that the perk changes some of the existing recipies

ah yes it just renames the original recycling recipes into enhanced ones.. the normal ones give 1 ammo per 4 empty the enhanced 1 per 3... also vigilant recycler simply also boosts the rate of gaining empty cells...

Still the best recycler can do is recycle about 30% of spent ammo into new ammo... useful but not mind blowing.

Hnd loader on the other hand makes a whole slew of new realy good ammos with NO downsides.

I realy wish recycler had let you make say pulsar ammo.. 2-3 even 4 shots for every normal shot but each shot does less damage and damages gun less too... nova ammo.. massive damage but greatly slowed rate of fire... meteor rounds.. knockback and stagger chances.. and aurora rounds.. cause a dazziling light flash can confuse targets and make them frenzy.

But instead we just have rather boring energy ammo choices.

Thank you for the advice :) I think I will give up on the recycler then and take the other two perks.
You should try to make a mod for these ammo types. Thay sound well to me ;)

BTW. My character is rather stealthy, lockpicking, silver-tongue talker who also likes to use different guns when possible. I think I will not make him an Unarmed specialist.
Basically, I would like to have perks that add some new animations or unique options without really making the game easier (like increasing damage etc.).
The Perks I have planned to take so far are:

1. Lady Killer, 2. Confirmed Bachelor, 3. Educated, 4. Comprehension, 5. Hand Loader, 6. Pack Rat, 7. Strong Back, 8. Jury Rigging, 9. Meltdown, 10. Nuka Chemist, 11. Better Criticals, and 12. Nerves of Steel.
Do you have any other recommendations?

Cheers
