lol

I'm in no big rush

Is it that buggy?

For my two cents, the problem isn't that it's that buggy- honestly, my install's behaved quite well actually. Until the last patch, which then added some extra bugginess. One of the hype points was the whole cowboy theme, with weapons to match- but now my Cowboy character gets hung up if he tries to reload a Cowboy-style weapon. This was apparently an "occasional" thing before the recent PC-only patch, and I dunno...someone decided occasional wasn't enough and it should be an every single time kind of thing?

Ony consistent thing I've had trouble with is what I think of as "Standard Bethesda behavior," also known as "random-interval CTDs." The game CTDs on me just like Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3- meaning sometimes I can play 8 hours without a stutter, others I've gotten 10 CTDs inside of 20 minutes.

All the standard Havok fun, items launching themselves for no apparent reason and so on.

And RE: Cinematic Kill Cam, that's just "Slow-motion killshot replay outside of VATS" so the non-VATS players don't get left out. I turned it off inside of 15 minutes myself.

GAME ROCKS!!

I don't think people should complain about the supposed "unbalanced" or "biased" MQ. Thats not really true. The MQ for Caesars Legion is really long. Yes tehre are less main quests involving The Legion but most of the SQ are not related to the NCR (i think) at least the ones ive done. But yes Energy Weapons are svckish, pretty much, some are not. But the game is really, really good.

Hey Thanatos,

I've been playing NV since release.

I'm not madly in love with it like I was with FO3 by this point. Well, I fell in love with FO3 when I came out of the vault and it just got better as I played. There was something about it...I dunno..I guess for me it's being able to just roam around and do whatever I want to that I love so much about FO3.

barrettsfloyd is right. The dialogue in NV is much better and a lot of the acting is better as well. I wouldn't say all of it. But with better writing a lot of it seems much better. Also, dialogue in the game updates as quests update and that is nice as well. And the Mojave is spectacularly gorgeous so that is fun to tromp around in and experience.

However, there are some weaknesses. Sure there are a ton of quests to do, but they are almost all fetch and carry. I'm very tired of having people give me something to do that they are better suited to do with terrible reasons for me to do it. I'd prefer compelling reasons and a better story to go with these things, but, oh well. There is hardly anything to do while walking around. It's a bit like a travel video of a desert. I played for 2.5 hours the other day and got attacked two times. I'm not sure why they bothered with all of the weapon stuff because there is hardly any combat in the game.

I'm still playing it. The game has good bones, it just needs some filling in. I'm looking forward to what the modding community will be able to do with it.

I never had too many issues with bethesda crashes on any of those games....if it's a repeat of those issues you mentioned maybe it won't be a big problem for me, since it hasn't really been with their engine before.

ugh.....not that intrigued by that cinkillcam thing.....I'll stick to vats when I can and I'll probably pass on replays of real time kills

I'll still probably wait a month or two before getting it, so hopefully most issues are patched out by then

Hey Llama  ....was hoping you'd stop by and give some good objectiveness.

I feel the same as you....from the moment i stepped out of the vault FO3 just kept hitting me with that special "something" that I just loved about the game......i was kinda hoping for more of the same but improved.

It sounds like there is some more of the same but also some less....two times in 2.5 hours :-( .....i don't like this.....i like a high threat level while roaming.

I'm sure I'll still enjoy it tho.....but it probably won't FO3thrill me.

But like you said....I'm sure the modders will take care of alot of deficiencies........did you mod any yet or still just playin?

Thanks :-)

I think it's a measure of how un-exciting it is that I'm already modding. I'm working on a companion. I had intended to play quite a bit before I even opened the GECK. I don't even think I made it a week. :)

The one thing I dislike the most is the lack of danger while I'm wandering about. I could live with all the other differences because many of them are improvements and the ones that aren't....well, it's a different game and that's okay. But wandering around with nothing to do....that's just..weird. It's a game so I expect to have stuff to do. I don't know why there isn't more stuff to do, or what the idea behind that is. In FO3, even though I know where the spawns are, I don't know what's going to be going on because randomness takes over and wackiness can ensue. There isn't any of that going on here that I've seen.

Why in the world they use Gary as an name on here. lol Thats my real name, gives me the creeps in Fallout3 in one of bunker with all the Gary's in there. Playing with my surround sound and in the dark and hearing someone say, "Gaaaaaaarrrrrrrrryyy!" Creeps me out! lmao :poke:

So you got bored to modness? Oh boy. ......and you're modding a "companion"?......shocking and surprising

Wow....I'm not gonna like the deadness of the game by the sounds of it....I totally agree about the constant ensuing of wackiness.....i love that.....I love having things surprise me and come after me. I need to be in a constant state of "was that something behind that rock over there? [censored] radscorpions!"

Oh well.....like you said I'm sure alot of the good about the game will offset alot of the bad....I just get the feeling it won't be as "special".....I'll still like it tho.....I like the sounds of alot of the improvements and adds.........I DO NOT like nerfed VATS tho.....hopefully it's mainly just the damage resistance that was fixed and not too much the rest of vats....I'd be fine with that.

Sooooo......is that a "charon going west" you're modding there? :hehe:

Well, keep in mind that New Vegas was made in Obsidian's mind aka story, writing, all the goodies. Bethesda has the exploration and killing mentality when making Fallout 3, which wasn't emphasize in that much in New Vegas (but there is still a hell lot of places to visit and it contains a good amount of story into it). This would explain as to why it is usually one of the main complaint of New Vegas. They also got Oscuro (creator of OOO) on board in balancing the foes left and right. This include making Deathclaw a deadly creature that it once was back in the older games.

Oh, and it was fun for me the whole way, in Vanilla. Mod isn't really required.

I don't see how.

Lots of running/stealth, a bunch of speech/science check, and crap load of stimpacks. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=24221124&postcount=9108 http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Ausir/Fallout_tidbits_15-2010.

Yeah uhm, a lot of trivial quests are in.
Reputation system is back.
Strength requirement for weapons is back.
A lot of dialogue on locations and events from the old games.
Weapon mods are back.
Active companions are back. (they have their own questlines)

I don't believe there are enough trivial quests in the game.

I love me some filler.

I would kill for like, say, 10 simple and short quests at the start of Goodsprings, just so I could stay a bit longer.

That is why I have this mod: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35121

Thank god for that......that bugged me in FO3.....what kind of wimpy assed deathclaws were those? You should be worried the minute you realize a deathclaw is around....not thinking well he's not within jumping distance, so he's toast."

Glad for that

It does sound fun even with some things I'm hearing that I'm not too fond of.......I'll enjoy it for the differences, alot of them sound good..........just don't like roaming dead time too much....oh well.

Yeah, Deathclaws will kick your behind. I took two companions with me to kill a bunch of Deathclaws and it was fun. Whereas in FO3 that would have been overkill (without mods).

Yeah Deathclaws in FO3 seems fairly easy to kill, I'm glad they boost deathclaws in FONV. I just hate when those little deathclaws gangup on ya. lol Those like @#$%!!! lmao I really enjoy creeping up on them and crouch by some rocks or bush use my anti gun or fully mod sniper. hehe :celebration: Cherry picking!!!!! :gun:

its more Fallout....so yes its awesome...would you rather have no Fallout to play?....if ya dont like bugs and glitches go change tha world so that tha monkies with tha money dont get to hide away after imposing mess on game deveopers like time limits and money issues ect...its not having issues (like most games) because tha devs are bums...it has its problems because of how tha world is and money....we dont get 100% awesome products in this world or even close to 100% rofl
