Is NV a safe to buy yet?

I don't know about PC but it's terrible on PS3. At first it was just a little stutter here and there but as I progress I'm getting more and more bugs. Now I'm completely locked out of the Strip because when I try to enter my system freezes up and I have to restart.

Hopefully they'll patch it soon. I really don't think the complaints are overblown though. I've played many games and it seems that in most that have lots of problems, some people experience them and some don't. Or maybe it's just that some people are more forgiving of a glitchy game. Personally, I can deal with a few bugs here and there but when it comes to the point that I can't access certain areas of the game because of a bug I tend to get a little upset. I'm fairly even keeled and easy going when it comes to problem games as long as I can still play through them but in this case I really have nothing good to say. Fallout New Vegas, while it's a great game in itself, has too many problems to warrant spending $20...let alone the $60 price tag it carries. It's beta stage at best IMO and I don't like paying $60 to participate in a beta.

BTW...I'm getting rid of it tomorrow. It's just totally unplayable when I can't even get into the central area of the game. As I said...hopefully they will patch it soon and if so I will get it again because it really is a great game once the bugs are out.

Again...I am speaking from the point of view of a PS3 player so this might not even be valid for other platforms. As of right now though, I wouldn't recommend FONV to anyone until it's patched. I've had less problems in most betas I've participated in.

A friend of mine today called it FAILOUT: New Beta. I don't agree at all, but I thought it was funny.

I won't play it until they patch it. I wouldn't buy this with your money.

Go to the Hardware and Software Issues forum...the bug discussions there are more dispassionate, and more 'workaround' based.

We can't tell you how to spend your money, we can't tell you if you'll enjoy it. And as you can see, game performance is wildly erratic.
