Craig Boone

I have used Boone and Ed-e since about level 4. I play mainly as a sneak/sniper player and have to say that ed-e and boone are the best combination for this build.

The enhanced sensors of ed-e is a bonus but the mean reason I take him over rex is that the noise rex makes when running drives me nuts.

I would say boones perk is more useful then his high guns skill. Having enemies glowing red when its night time and you are taking a long distance sniper shot is brilliant.

I have given him all sorts of weapons for CQC (I leave him with his hunting rifle for long range as its good enough and doesnt take ammo). He is equally good with melee as well, as someone above mentioned he seems to love using "oh baby". He is amazing with a riot shotgun up close too but burns through ammo really quickly.

He does make it harder to get some achievements (he tends to steal a lot of kills) and he does tend to mess up my sneak approach a lot of times by just charging in head first.

I have tried veronic, rex and the ex-enclave guy but couldn't really get on with them as much. I will go back to them at some point just to do the quests but dont think I will use them long term.

Hes a Ammo hog , and beside the computer runs him mostly so he end up doing stuff alot quicker

I've never had much of problem with Boone and ammo. Well, at least for sniper/rifles. There are some weapons where he can burn through it very fast, but that's true of all companions. But even a faster-firing modded cowboy repeater, I didn't have to replenish his ammo all that often because he'd kill most things in a few shots at most. hehe

Yeah that's what I did for a lot of my first playthrough. They do make a good team in that regard. But ED-E's jangly jingle and soft hum started to annoy after a while me so I let him go.

If you use one of the multi-companion mods, Boone + Gannon = awesome team, and hilarious complimentary voice lines to boot.

To be honest, I think all the (human, anyway) companions make the game too easy, at least on the normal difficulty mode, which is how I play it.

They do that on very hard as well, actually.

He can hog my ammo anytime for keeping me alive. I use EW so he can have all my .308 and 5.56 and i'll even buy him more.

Boone story: I was planning my strategy for Cottonwood Cove and was climbing around on the rocks all around the place looking for the best vantage point from which to launch my strategic attack. I'd hammer the place with missiles to soften things up first, you know? I was going to wait until nightfall to do it. So I'm sneaking around, getting close to the camp and Boone tells me we're close to the Legion and he'll have to take action. I tell him I'm not going in yet and he's cool with that.

So I find this great spot, not too close, not too far and I get settled in and turn to check on Boone and ED-E and they're heading down into the camp.

"Oh, I guess we're attacking now." says me. :D

It was so funny. We did prevail so his plan was fine. :D

The best way to get Cottonwood Cove IMO is always releasing the radioactive barrels on them :whistling:

Never. We swim in that beautiful Cove to wash off the dust and grime of the desert and relax in between quests. We'd never add to the destruction of the planet any further than the former governments have already done.
