is there any point to DPS?

High DPS weapons are good for unarmored targets while high DAM weapons are good for armored ones. Having 25 DAM and 400 DPS means nothing if each shot is only doing 1 damage per bullet because of a target's 24 DT. Then it makes sense to carry around a gun that does 135 DAM, 70 DPS gun that will do 111 damage with each bullet which I believe is quite a bit more than 1 damage.

If you are talking about AP rounds... all they do is increase a gun's DAM by up to 15 (only very low DAM weapons get full benefit). The effectiveness of AP ammo varies depending on the weapon you are using and the DT of the opponent. AP rounds for an extremely low DAM gun, like a BB gun, will always do more damage with AP rounds if the target has any armor at all (but there are no AP rounds for BB guns :( ). HP rounds for an extremely high DAM gun like the AMR would do more damage with HP rounds than with AP on ANY target in the game. Unfortunately, there are no HP rounds available for the AMR (boo!).

Critical hits always ignore DT. So, a gun with a very high critical chance multiplier like a sniper rifle (5x) will almost always do more damage with any round other than AP regardless of DAM or DPS.

You could just use energy weapons and ignore the whole ammo puzzle altogether... but then you do not have the satisfaction of your gun going BOOM while the opponents head explodes like a melon.

and why don't i get u.av every time a get 3 kill streak man this game is rectum:{

I didn't understand what it said, but I think it needs to go in my sig.....

I've found that with a 'guns specialist' character, there comes a point where you will use the best firearm you have against most, if not all enemies.

Personally, I don't think the DPS figure actually tells you anything at all...it seems like it's too 'processed'. Why not simply say that a particular firearm fires x amount of rounds per second? Sure, you can divide the DPS by the Dam figure, but why then go to that exent when a simple rate of fire figure makes more sense...

Saying that 'low Dam/high DPS' weapons are best against low or no armoured targets is simply a fancy way of saying that the weapon performs so poorly that it's next to useless against anything wearing a heavy shirt, and totally ignores the number of weapons that have a low Dam, as well as a comparable DPS to their big, lethal brothers.

Simple law of hunting and combat: Use enough gun.

Test of law: If it moves, kill it. If it doesn't move, kill it anyway.

I had to use it, it's just too perfect.

Also, great advice.

And remember, if they made it so that all enemies died from 1 headshot, it would be boring, not to mention that you would have to die from the same amount of damage. 'look a powder ganger!' BLAM dead.

If this was the case, we wouldn't have made it past the very first cutscene.
