Van Buren Stuff in New Vegas?

I was excpecting to see a space station, I guess we'll see it in the next Obsidian Fallout game.

Which is much better than their original plan of combining ALL PROJECTILE/LASER FIRING WEAPONS to just "Firearms."

Hehe, I can already see the controversy when they were planning this on Van Buren, though I kind of see it in the Dev side as players do tend to usually tag both Small Guns and Energy Gun many time in Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 while Big Gun is usually left in the dust.

Though it did use the overall idea of Deception Skill in the form of disguises.

I'd go the other way. I'd say there are enough contradictions with VB for it to be no more canon than the leaked early design documents of FO1. Some of the ideas are there, but there's significant changes.

Where my mutated raccoons? :swear:

But ya, so much ideas were uses in Van Buren to New Vegas that Van Buren is pretty much a stock pile of resource/idea rather than part of the storyline branch. I would not be surprise if the Dev would go back and uses some of the other ideas not use yet use in Van Buren but later use it in the later installment, like a crazy scientist who wanna rule the whole world or the concept of Vault 29.

The idea of "Fertile Ghouls" was amusing

New Caanan was also in Van Buren.
Brotherhood and NCR war was also part of Van Buren.
One thing that they failed to bring in from Van Buren was Trogs.... I call [censored] design decision on that part. <_<

I hated the Trogs. Not that they were a bad choice of enemy, just that they were creepy as hell in The Pitt.

Again, I'm not talking about PitTrogs, I'm talking about BVTrogs.

Was quite some time since I saw the movie so I was just going off the top of my head.
Bound to make some mistakes.

A lot of the things from Van Buren were changed.

Van Buren was supposed to take place 12 years after FO2.

NCR and Caesar's Legion were both much more powerful and technologically advanced.

The NCR was fighting both the BoS and the Legion at the same time.

The Powder Gangers were NCR railroad workers who weren't getting paid by the NCR because the Brotherhood blew up the NCR's gold reserves.

The Burned Man is based on a Van Buren companion called the Hanged Man but they may or may not be the same person.

Gotta bear in mind folks that a lot of the Obsidian guys never stopped creating more fallout, from what I understand they had regular PnP games where concepts like Ceasars' legion came from. I'm sure I read somewhere that some things they included because to them they were estalished canon, even though they'd never appeared anywhere but their PnP games.

Am I the only person that would give a kidney to be able to play even a one-shot game of tabletop fallout with those guys?

They should seriously auction a seat at the table for charity.
