I dont know why but it seems like i cant get into the world of NV.
I have played FO:3 and i loved it, one of my top 5 favorite games of all time.

Anyone have any suggestions of what i can try to do?

The only solution I feel is get a PC version. Make mods or download player mods.

Infact, it is the only solution. FO:NV is stuck teh way it is on console. Might get a patch in a couple years time, and a few DLCs but nothing will change the way the game really is.

I think it just depends on what you are expecting from the game. If you were expecting a sandbox/Bethesda game, then you you'd probably come out disappointed. However, if you were expecting more of a RPG than a sandbox game, then you'd probably love NV.

That's just my personal opinion.

And I can't seem to stop playing. I keep finding new things, new dialogue and more to do and see. Last night I decided it was completely deserving of the RPG of the Year Award. The more I play and do, the more I see how terrific the writing and stories are. Some of them really get to me. Second game now and it's so different from the first. I hope you find something you really like.

I don't really know what to tell you. If you can't get into it or simply don't like it, than that's that unless you force yourself to play until you find something that will get you into the game. It really depends on what your personal taste is so I can't really recommend anything.

I usually cry in that situation.

More seriously however, when I first played Oblivion I couldn't get into it at all. I got to the part where you go into Kvatch and I just turned it off. Later, I decided to go back to the game and play it some more and I fell in love with it. Sometimes it just doesn't hit you at first.

And sometimes you just generally don't like a game and nothing you can ever do will change that... Like me and fighting games.

Kind of an odd situation for me as well. I played Oblivion for about 1,000 over a year and a half (yay mods and S.I.) and went through FO3 about four times over a year but I'm just about half way through my second FONV and have completely lost interest. What I'm getting at is that in spite of the new and interesting (initially) tweaks Obsidian did to the game is not holding my interest. I don't know what there is with a Bethesda designed game, but even when its more flawed there's something about it that can hold me for much longer than most other games (and I can't quite put my finger on it). One time through with FO NV seems to have been enough.

Just because one person likes a game doesn't mean that you are going to like it. I could tell you the reasons why I like New Vegas, but it isn't going to help you like it. My advice, play a different game.

Actually you can do a lot on the console as well with modding on a standard retail console (about 1% of what the GECK can do though, lol)

there are the modified consoles called Jtags that can actually run the PC mods of Fallout 3/NV

but I don't have one of those and I still did a lot (I have a 360 Slim from gamestop)

In Fallout 3 I put
-green trees around TP Tower
-Cars from tranquility lane going on what looks like a road for the tower (they don't move though)
-Jefferson Memorial pumps water into the tower
-Liberty Prime guards the tower
-Turned TPs suite into my characters suite by upgrading it to how I wanted (even created a bar in burke's room)
-and a lot of other stuff that I can't think of atm since it was a long time ago

so there is still a lot you can do and it is all within a savegame for Fo3 so I sometimes give my save to my friends and they really like it

I haven't started working on NV yet but I will when I am done with everything

And how exactly would people on this forum help you?

Are we suppose to come up with a new way to play FNV that will suddenly capture your elusive interest.

If you don't like, don't play it.

Maybe you could help me understand the point of this topic.

Never never never buy a Bethesda game on console. The #1 place their games excel is in their mod-ability and you can only do that on PC. Without mods, Bethesda games are decent, but with the right mods they're amazing.

Its the difference between Planescape and Doom. Both are good games, but Doom is timeless gameplay that can be picked up and putdown at whim. Firing up Doom, you can play a level to the end and have had a fun 20 minute break; Try that with Planescape ~it doesn't work. Planescape's pacing is deliberately slow and comes with a lot of details to take in, and you forget what you are doing if you've not played in a few days. Its the same with any deep game. Oblivion is the best of Hexen mixed with Gothic (or near abouts); an open world with the interactivity of an RPG, and the thrills of a light fantasy shooter. Like Doom, you can fire it up and jump into an old save for a while, then put it down, and have had a fun 20-60 minute break ~and as (deliberate) a result, it doesn't really get old.

Games designed this way let you "put your feet in the pool". Games like Planescape let you "dive into the pool". As with pools in RL, you can always make time to enjoy getting your feet wet, but can't (and don't want) to always dive in ~yet soaking your feet is never quite as engaging as taking the plunge.

Obviously it's my opinion. Posting opinions is what forums are for. Adding something like "IMO" is the most contrived, redundant nonsense invented on the Internet.

NV is a Bethesda game. It's their engine, their graphics, their IP, their game rules, their design philosophy, and their name plastered all over it. Obsidian was contracted out to contribute to Bethesda's game.

Well I suppose if you have a crappy computer, buying the console version is a last resort, but you're still only playing half of the experience. You're missing out big time by not using mods.

3 is/was just as much an RPG as NV is.

This game has Obsidian's design philosophy written all over it. It may have been produced by Bethesda, and it may be using Fallout 3's engine, but it's story, quests, even the loot placement, all feel more like one of the earlier Fallouts. But this is one of those things you can't really see unless you've played those earlier games. The same minds worked together to make Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3. A different group of minds worked on NV. There's going to be a different feel to the game, a different design philosophy. It isn't better than Bethesda, I happen to love their games, but it's definitely not the same. Hence the stress on story and quests, less rewarding exploration, the feeling that you have less freedom, etc...

Go on a hunt for the Pulse Gun, and then assassinate Mr. House (the Pulse Gun makes short work of the Securitrons :D). That's always fun.
