PC patch is here!

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 8:07 pm

I didn't even know mine had been patched. I've just been testing a mod for the past couple weeks so my playing has been in short spurts. Now a changelog would be handy so I know which of the 20 or so "fix" mods to unload. I really hate it when I can't just download a zip file and install it myself. I hate Steam. If it wasn't for FONV it wouldn't exist on my machine. And when I'm all through with FONV it's getting removed.

Oh, lol...Sniper Rifle lovers are going to rage.

After checking in the GECK the bolt action hunting rifle does more damage in both DAM and Critical. If I'm reading it right the critical hit chance multiplier for the sniper rifle is also 1x now.

That's what I expected as far as critical multiplier (due to the silencer), though I suppose the DAM nerf is probably expected given the fire rate. Check the Gobi, I would expect it to have either more DAM or a better multiplier.

Is that mod the Unlimited Companions one? And what was wrong with the Cowboy Repeater? Thanks. :)

No, I use one called Improved Companions w/CHA stat factors. But does essentially the same thing.
Cowboy repeater...someone got to that one first. Only for me it wasn't a second...it was more like I'd freeze for 10 seconds. It affected my companions if I gave them those weapons, as well.

Oh, lol...Sniper Rifle lovers are going to rage.

Only if they haven't tried it first. It's really not that bad....I can still one shot most things (I mean, deathclaws are not the entire enemy population...) while crouched/sneak critical, and if your crit chance is high, no big deal. Now in terms of being able to use it like a shotgun as you backpedal away from a deathclaw...probably won't be as good for that, but it isn't a terrible weapon for that either. the fire rate doesn't seem slower, so I like that.

PS Of course I'm one of those that thinks the combat is "easy" in the first place, so a somewhat lowered dmg/dps sniper rifle doesn't (so far) seem to make much of a difference to me...your mileage may vary.

Ok, I just downloaded the patch and went to run New Vegas through steam and it came up with an error saying I'm using an unknown version of Fallout, and it tells me to check that I'm using the latest version of NVSE. Which I am. HALP!

Welcome to the Bush Rifle bandwagon?

Nah, Trail Carbine. Scoped, high enough damage to one-shot a deathclaw, low recoil, fast ROF, SWC rounds have that nice -6DT effect and can fire around 500 shots between repairs. Amazing how it flew under the radar for this long TBH.

Well... it's hard to recognize the strengths of other 2H rifles when weapons as overpowered as the old SR/Gobi were around. But yeah, the Trail Carbine is an amazing weapon (as is the Brush Gun w/ Cowboy).

I wonder if they fixed the issue with the messed up transition between normal and distant gunfire sounds. As distance between you and the shooter increases, it switches the sound from the completely faded out normal gunfire sound suddenly to a louder distant gunfire sound. Whereas the two are supposed to blend into each other seamlessly.

well so far I noticed that the plsma pistol now does 32 damage or so and the plsma rifle does 45.. nice.. The recharger rifle seems to do a bit more damage and the laser rifle got a good boost AND the split beam mod works now it actualy adds to overal damage:)

And there is defeintly more energy ammo for sake...

Ok, I've quick-tested all the things I personally cared much about...(which wasn't a whole lot, really)...time to wipe the save directory and start a new character. My current ones don't have many open quests left to check changes with... cya all in a while. heh
