Let me aim that for you next time

Hey, just a curious question....I remember when Boone used to say that line to me ALL THE TIME. But thinking about it, it's been a long time since he's said it. I'm not sure if it was since patch 1.1 (not the one today) or before or what...but he doesn't say it at all now.

I tried just now firing into a wall many times and he says nothing, even when he's my only companion. Is he not saying that line for anyone else, or is it just me? Maybe it's the multiple companion mod I'm using? Why would it remove only that line tho...

I don''t know, but I'm glad it'll be reduced. He says it even when I'm hitting something, albeit from 100 yards away, it's very annoying.

I remember in an interview that Obsidian said they got rid of those 'Look where you're walking!' and 'Dont think of breaking into that' lines NPCs said, because they thought they were a bit annoying, and now they're being just as annoying with those companion lines. :P

Yes I noticed Boone was not saying that line as much, or any line for that matter, then I remembered I blew his head off about 3 days ago because he kept wasting 50Cal ammo on coyotes, geckos, powder ganger's and other pests. So thats probably why it was so in my case.

He's not saying What's your problem when I fire into a rock and he's not saying Let me point my gun at you when I take his picture with the camera. He's probably not saying Let me aim that for you either.

I forgot about the What's your problem line...haven't heard that one in a long time either. But he does say the point my gun at you, for me. Maybe not quite as often but often enough.

I was just curious if it was removed during patch 1.1 or something. I am glad he doesn't say the Let me aim anymore, but I might've preferred it if he just said it a lot less often, rather than never. I mean, Cass still constantly says all her lines over and over and over and over again. Ah well.

One time, I used a stick of dynamite on a group of Powder Gangers and killed all of them at once, with one of their bodies landing at his feet. He turns to me and said, "Let me aim that for you next time." then preceded to take out his sniper rifle and aim at the dead body at his feet for about 5 seconds until he said, "Huh, gone."

Some of the best moments I've had in NV contained the amount of sheer ridiculousness in the dialog.

I haven't received the patch yet for the 360 but I think I might miss Boone's mean remarks. Emphasis on "might". It's the most he ever says outside of his quests.

Raul's constant complaining is really getting annoying. It's also strange how his voice isn't raspy like most ghouls.

Veronica's is the most annoying one "Am I gonna have to take that away from you?, over and over and over again. :ahhh: Annoying, but she is such a good companion, with the Ballistic Fist I gave her.

I agree, it got kind of annoying. Still, it's not as bad as Lily's constant "Don't you worry about me dearie, you're Grandma knows how to keep her mouth shut!" or whatever when sneaking, I might believe her if she'd actually, you know, SHUT UP. I had only just traveled with her for a few minutes before I exited the game, and went to download a mod that stopped her from saying that line, back when I first used her (That was before the recent patch. I'm not sure if she says it as much now.)

If the patch has removed or reduced those annoying remarks, I certainly won't complain.

Yeah, I haven't used Boone since the patch, but if he's stopped saying that I won't miss it. I think for the next DLC, any companion needs to say at least 7 to 10 different things when you go into their inventory, too. I have liked every one of the companions, but since you're playing alongside them for hours at a time, almost anything can get pretty old if they don't mix it up. Even 5 things would be soooooo much better.

"Just don't treat me like a Pack Brahmin, m'kay?" x100 is just silly, and from a character who otherwise says a lot of smart and funny things, pretty anti-immersive.

...or maybe he really is too boring to get a boyfriend.

Cass's "Could use a drink" and "Caravan of two now" type lines that she says at idle are what drive me crazy, because even during non-combat times she won't be quiet. They're cute the first dozen times, but in my game at least, she says them every 2 minutes or so. Not amusing after a couple hours. :D

Agreed!!

I'm not really happy with what they did to Boone in the patch. I'm all for him not saying some of his lines quite as much, but now it's like he doesn't say anything at all. Also, he doesn't follow you with his eyes when you walk past him like he used to either. Or when you walk up to him you expect him to look at you and he doesn't. I started a new game about a week ago, so I can't remember if this is something he does later when he trusts you, or if it's just gone now since the patch. If that sentence makes sense. :unsure2:

I miss Boone's dry snarky statements. :(

I agree. He wasn't all that talky anyway and now it's mostly Eat This.

I noticed this myself. I was like, WAT?? Why the heck did they change that? I haven't checked to see if that's the same with all companions, but I'd take a wild guess that it is. Why oh why? The fact they'd look at you once you got in range gave them some personality or something. Nonono, I don't like it. Change it back. :( Is this something you can change back via the Geck? Probably script oriented, too complex for me. *sniffle*

It's definitely something with the new patch...he/all companions were doing the looking thing until I installed the patch tonight. The companions were just scripted to stare at anyone who's close enough (including other npc's), nothing to do with their quests/trust level.

Frankly, for my own personal playstyle, the only thing I'm loving about the patch (besides the quest fixes) is the handloading gun fix.

Oh, hey....I tried copying back the 1.1 .esm file that I copied elsewhere before installing the patch, but did NOT revert back to the 1.1 .exe file.

Result: Boone is now looking at me again, plus the cowboy repeater bug is still gone. So are the other .esm changes like stimpack prices etc. but I could always put those back in myself. Interesting. Are the quest fixes in the .exe too? Because I have no problem modding the stats of weapons to match the patch....

Edit:One way to find out. Talked to Ranger Andy already...now to go fetch Raul.

Nope....looks like the quests are in the esm...which would make sense. Couldn't get Raul's quest to trigger w/out the new patched .esm.

However I did notice that only Boone does the no-looking. Both Arcade & Raul still stare at you. Bah humbug.

Unfortunately I'm playing FONV on my PS3. I got Veronica and she looks at me. Boone just looks straight ahead. It svcks. I hope they fix this. :(

I have noticed post patch that the companions say less to me now. I am glad.

However, I would have hoped that their would have been more dialog for the times when we tell them to Wait or Follow or Go Away. Someone said they should have 7 to 10 different things to say when accessing inventory, that should be expanded for all triggered responses to the companion wheel/dialog.

Wouldn't additional dialogue at this point ruin the game? Would they actually get all the original cast back in to voice the dialogue? It's ruined for me when I detect a different voice on added dialogue. It just isn't the same because you can tell. There are already spots like that in the game. :(

Usually they record much more dialog than what makes it in the game. I have not poked around in the GECK for this game, but in almost every game I have done this in, I find all kinds of things by the orginal voice actors that were left out of the game for whatever reason.

I do agree that having the voices sound different would be jarring, but I would have hoped that there was more dialog recorded to be used by the game.

"Raul, i know your eyes are bad but I'm trying to pick this deathclaw off before he tears us a new one!" "Hate to criticize boss but I'm not actually immortal, just old." -Pulls out minigun-. "Here comes the whole lot of them!" -winds up minigun- "I know I'm ugly boss but I'm on your side."
