I don't know what OSes you have, but for me my old OS was XP and my new one is Windows 7. All I had to do was force administrator rights on all of the files that I wanted to access. Not hard, but annoying.
It isn't so simple though. The HDD that you'd be getting the files from still has an OS on it, and that OS will not like what you're doing.
Silly windows file permissions, that's what Linux is for
(Heh, just last week a file was complaining about file permissions and all my attempts to take ownership failed, so I through it up on my web server and downloaded it to clear out the Windows file permissions )

Yeah the old OS is XP Professional, and I have Windows 7 Professional on my PC. So I'll just do exactly what you said then?

Yep. It should ask you if you want to take ownership of the folder. Do so, and make sure that you take ownership of all the sub-folders and files or you'll be having to take ownership many more times.

Lastly, Should I get the one I posted? Or a different model///company?
You really don't even need one. If you have an extra slot to plug in a SATA drive then you can just install it into your computer and not worry about USB speeds. Unless it's not SATA.

Assuming I don't, would you get that one or a different one?
