Excuse the presumptuousness, but perhaps you can purge only users who haven't logged on since 2009 and have never made a post? Or some similar criteria to try and eliminate as many contributing users as possible.

I can foresee this causing some trouble with the lore forum D:

I second this. Would be a shame to lose some of the old fellows who pop in every few years.
