Just bought it AGAIN. The 6th time in my life.

The community svcks now, and its overrun with bots and advertisemants....

Anyone still play? I'm starting from scratch and could use some company :).

I think we have a thread. I've bought it 3 times, and refuse to pay another $40, so you won't see me anytime soon, even though I wish so bad I could play.

I keep an installation on one of my flash drives. You won't find me online though, it's nothing but bots and people who, in my opinion, have completely lost the game in their obsession with ladders and whatever runs.

I'll never understand that line of thinking. To me, the fun of Diablo 2 lies entirely in its loot and skill systems, which are so well made and diverse that I never feel the need to go on a run for any specific piece of equipment. It's one of those games where not only am I completely content on the loot I find as I go, but it's often very good loot regardless. Plus, the shops are there in case I really need to upgrade something ASAP. Personally, I find it much more enjoyable to play through the game with absolutely no plan on farming for anything; I'll simply take what the game gives me, and this often produces some surprising and fun results. If I get good stuff, that portion of the game becomes easier and I get to own everything for a while. If I don't, then I get to enjoy the added challenge.

If I ever felt like I needed to do hundreds of Baal runs, or rush my characters through to Hell mode without enjoying the experience of gradually becoming powerful through hard work and exploration, it would cease to be a game and just be some job that I don't get paid real money for.

I play it. Just got into it again. There are WAY too much spammers.

I actually like playing Open Battle.net (I was a master at cheating duels), but Hero Editor doesn't work for me for some reason. It gives me some sort of error. Hyperjoin (something that got me into games super fast instead of super long loading screens) also stopped working for some reason. It all worked before I uninstalled Diablo 2 before I quit.

Way too many is an understatement in this case. Which realm? I just restarted and I could use some company.

U.S. West (I think). I'm a level 6 Necromancer. I just delete my level 40 Necromancer since I disliked his name and I kind of wanted to start over. If you're a higher level you could rush me if you wanted.

I used a bot the last time I played it. I had a LOT of fun managing the bot AI and finding all sorts of crazy items. The BOT software is pretty interesting stuff. Granted, I already spent the time to make a few decently geared characters, so I figured "what the hell?" It was probably my single most fun experience with the game and of course my last. Fantastic game! I ended up making all the crazy builds I could think of and trading like a mad man. ALL the rune words I could ever want, etc. So much fun! I justified myself because I'd played numerous season of this game over the years without cheating. Tee hee. My god it makes me want to start another bot ;P

You probably should (on U.S. West) and give me a bunch of stuff.
