WHY CANT YOU SWITCH CHARACTERS IN GAME !

Post » Sun Jul 17, 2011 12:38 am

Doesn't make any-sense!! if cant max all ability's to 1 character then there should be a character selection option in game. How can you guess what class your gonna have to be in the main menu?? Plus with this option it would give more people reason WHY to keep playing (Max rank) their characters so they can be one character for each class and body type . its genius !! If its not possible then AT-LEAST make the Rank Cap Higher soo its possible to Max ALL ability's . Anyone agreed ??

They didn't think of it.
And no, maxing all abilities would ruin the point of builds, to the point where everyone can do everything and it becomes lame fests of everyone doing mostly the same.

Pfft, they should have changed around the abilities and kept the weapon buffs away from the engineers and only have one of them, which is bought around rank 3 instead.
I think they got screwed in development or ran out of idea's.
However character swapping would have been a great idea, admittedly, or class load outs. (Where you can set your weapons that you prefer to use. Like shotguns with a engi and a sniper with a soldier.)

Which to take it a step further is why you can't swap characters in game. You have to choose a tactical skill set, one that you feel comfortable playing and that can benefit your team. If you could just swap out all willy nilly it defeats the team dynamic entirely. What's the point of a team at all if you can just swap between four maxed characters at will? I prefer it this way. It forces you to play as a halfway coordinated team.

This.

I role with a soldier and medic 80% of the time, I flip flop between OP and Engi when the need arises. When they aren't on I don't want to have to do their job either.

They give you ten characters to switch between, they should at least give you a ability to fluidly switch between them. Just like able to upgrade instead of being forced to pull out of a full game to apply skills.
What I mean by 'in game' isn't during a match, but in between matches. (Switching characters in a match would be silly)

This would work PERFECTLY with a lobby system.

Theres a big reason you can only have so many points to each character it is so people haveto choose what their character specialises in and you cant just have everyone gonig around with all the 'perks] it would be stupid ruind the game and also have no reason to habve multiple characters apart from looks.

BUT i think its stupid and would not ruind the game atall but make it better that you cant switch character like inbetween matches while you are at the 'lobby' [even though its not a proper lobby lol] Because I have had many times where my whole team has been engineers or assault or theres just not a veriety of classes and 'perks' and when you finish your game what are you supposed to do? leave the 'lobby' [lets call it flobby] and change your character then join the exact same lobby through the matchamking? [assuming you arent playing with friends, although I mostly do] its just inconvenient and I dont see why you cant change your character inbetween matches without leaving the 'flobby'.4
You cant tell the future on who your going to be playing with and what class the specify in can you.... what would be good is that if when your'e waiting for a match to start that you can see everyones specialities then choose your character and that way anyone who wants to play as a team [what brink is all about] will choose the needed character, it would have a much higher chance of ending up with more veriety and the game would no doubt be better.

The only thing I want is the ability to switch your character and buy skills inbetween games, without the need to quit out of your current roster. I mean sometimes I like the guys I'm playing with and rather not quit out just to use 1 of my skillpoints I just unlocked.

Oh well in between matches is fine. I don't see an issue with that. I could be down with that.

I honestly prefer how the game is now. It adds a wildcard to gameplay. But honestly, it's not something anyone has to worry about... Even if you don't have characters with builds that match the objective, you can still DO the objectives (always). And if your team is reliable, it won't matter in the least.
And maxing out all the abilities would be absolutely pathetic, ruin the game even more and take away from the POINT of a class-based system.
Even changing characters would be too much, that would seriously break the game because you're basically giving the player the use of all their abilities at once anyway, unless ONLY allowed between matches.
Clearly, OP has never picked up an RPG. (the game, not the weapon.)

The game was developed for players to choose their own game play style. If you give players the option to do whatever the want all the time, that makes this goal moot.

and if you set up your original weapon load-out well enough, you basically can select multiple different sets... But I still agree that a weapon load-out based on your class would be awesome.
The only difference between my Engineer and Op is that my Engineer uses the Dragonuv, while my Op uses the Mossington.
