Cant decide between two games

Everyone who voted for Oblivion:

Did you play it before you played Fallout 3?

I was talking to some of my friends, and every friend who thought Fallout 3 was a better game, played Fallout 3 before Oblivion. I think the first time you experience a massive RPG it has some kind of effect on you, and you are closer to all the great times you've had in that game. I played Fallout 3 before Oblivion and Oblivion just doesn't feel the same. Everytime I hear 50's music I get nostalgic and remember all the good times I've had with Fallout 3.

I had never even heard of Oblivion or TES until I was looking for some FO3 mods on tesnexus.

Now I would say that Oblivion is probably my favorite game, as I've certainly spent a lot more time playing it than any other game. I only recently started Morrowind; however, so I will reserve my judgement until I finish.

I played Oblivion first, and Fallout 3 is my favorite game ever made. Oblivion was my favorite game until F03. I guess I'm saying buy FO3. I'm confused about something though. Did this topic get moved or something? People were saying this is the Oblivion forum so the votes would favor Oblivion. I'm not sure if it got moved, or if people were acting like this whole site was just a bunch of TES fanatics. I personally love TES, but I prefer Fallouts setting. I also know there are a lot of other Fallout fans on here. I guess I could've been confused. I was just curious as to why they were so sure the votes would be higher for Oblivion.

Indeed.

Fallout 3 is a great game, but it's nowhere near as awesome as Oblivion. It did greatly improve on what was done in Oblivion, but the setting just didn't feel the same.

Oblivion was a major letdown on so many levels for me, so I'd say Fallout. Honestly Fallout was a far more enjoyable experience for me.

DO NOT PURCHASE OBLIVION!!!

That is One of the worst games I've ever played. Which is unfortunate because I really wanted to like the game but no, just no...

Fallout 3 on the other hand, is absolutely fantastic. I got 100 hours just out of the original without the DLC.

I can't recommend Fallout 3 anymore, buy it now.

Avoid Oblivion at all costs...

LOL, I enjoyed FO3 a lot, but I probably got a total of 150 hours out of FO3, including all DLCs.

Oblivion, on the other hand, has provided 600-700 hours of great entertainment, and that is not even two complete playthroughs. There is something about the game world of Oblivion that lends itself to roleplaying, wandering around, living in various towns for periods of time, etc., that for me has been unique. With survival mods and combat overhaul mods it is even more enjoyable.

I still don't see why the OP needs to choose, he will probably be able to get both games very cheap during a Steam sale.

I voted for Fallout3. I own both games, got Fallout before I got Oblivion. (Found Oblivion on the Nexus looking at Fallout mods). I've got around 1200 hours in Fallout and about 200 in Oblivion. I get bored in Oblivion, though its mods are quite good. I find the environment was a big factor for me. I'm more into destroyed cities than unicorns and fireballs I guess.
