Now keep that quote in mind and read the following
I Just saw this on facebook, and was reading through the comments. one guy actually made a good point.
Spoiler
"no. There will never be such a thing as a good video game film. They always kill the characters. They get the worst people possible for the films that don't fit the character at all. I mean just look at prince of persia. Decent action, but horrible acting. It's like the movie directors just read the game reviews, don't even play the game, and try to make a movie out of it. You need to play the game to figure out the character's personality. A great game has a hero with personality, and you will never know what the character is like unless you are playing through the game and learn the personality of the character. Take time to play the game hollywood. It might actually save you."
I think that is a valid point. It doesn't seem like movie producers actually take time to figure out the character's actual personality. It seems they just, as this guy pointed out, read the reviews and hope for the best.
On the other hand, the quote from Todd Trent says that the story and casting are starting from square one. I have no idea what that means, but I am hoping it means it will turn out that there will actually be some time taken to either play the game or have someone who played the game and tell them how to make the actors fit the characters better.
Still... I am under the impression that there will not be a stellar video game movie anytime soon. I can only hope that the Uncharted movie will prove me wrong.
Thoughts?
