Unofficial Dead Island Discussion

Post » Tue Sep 06, 2011 2:41 pm

I think this game looks great, but I'm terrified of zombies. :( I'll probably wait until the price drops just in case I end up not being able to play it because I'm a huge chicken.

Well I let my best mate borrow Fallout 3 and when he played he [censored] himself over giant ants, mole rats and ghouls. I have no idea how he's gonna cope with Dead Island.

I'm really looking forward to this game. Gonna pick a copy up tomorow after school/practice. Game's gotten some pretty good reviews and I'm liking what I see from gameplay/trailers/review videos. Also a melee focused zombie killing rpg just sounds so sweet. I should enjoy this :D

Hype does not equal the rating.

With all the hype surrounding Skyrim,Gears, Batman, Uncharted, a 7.8 would be considered a massive failure.

Maybe to you but a rating is just a number to me.

I was hoping/expecting at least one 9/9.5. With the amount of hype this game had, a 7.8 isn't good to me.

This game was hyped? I guess I missed all of it. The only hype I picked up was about that trailer.

Videogame ratings are only half-truths, things that are subject to the opinion of the reviewer themselves. You can use them to get a rough grasp of what the game is like, but to really know whether it's good or bad you need to play it yourself.

I think you might of had you hopes a little too high.It unlikely that all the big established titles will be getting at least 9.0's when they come out.So to expect a unknown to be great is a bit of a stretch.

For those games which are all big named series that have previous titles with high ratings.I think by nest week the avergae for Dead Island will at least go up to an 8.0 which is really good for itself.

A little, yea but no where near the titles coming out this fall.

I'm fine with Fallout 3, but I'll admit the ghouls do freak me out a lot. Thing is, I have a love/hate relationship with zombies. I've seen a load of films and read a lot of books about them, but when I'm actually controlling a character in their world, the fear just gets multiplied.

I like Simon Pegg's anolysis of slow moving zombies - which I think are in Dead Island - and for me I think it applies to the running ones too. They are Death: be it swift, or slow and shambling; they are unstoppable, and indefatigable.

I'll definitely read everything I can about this game, just in case I don't have the guts to play it.

I only found out about this game when they released that really awesome CGI trailer a few months back. Since them, I have not been following it all, I know next to nothing about this game. However, I just watched the review on Gametrailers and it looked quite good to me. So, I went ahead and bought it on GreenManGaming for $33, hope I won't regret this impulse buy.

Definite 20 dollar buy for me. I don't like the character classes at all and it's way too cinematic. I don't see what's wrong with having a basic character creation or at least better classes.

Well, against all odds, I'll be picking my Limited Edition of the game up tomorrow.

Deus Ex surprised me, and I picked it up because I had nothing good to play. Now I'm loving every second of it, despite it receiving a overall rating of 8.5.

Hoping Dead Island proves itself worthy and shows me that Zombie Killing is still loads of fun. :)

From what I have played so far there is a class system set up.You acquire skill points which you use to level up your skills. Its got a nice open world and you don't really feel forced to do the main quest. It comes naturally. Combat is good so far, although weapons break fairly often so you will have to constantly be on the look out for them along with other supplies. So far I am really enjoying it.
