I heard that all the BF3 exclusives are supposed to be free later after the release anyway.
that's, thanks to the huge revolt by the hardcoe fans of the series
pre-order exclusives are the most detrimental , most annoying most destructive ways of selling DLC or content - it feels like modern warfail 2 - split communities and no real solid connection - it's a breeding ground for noobs and hackers as well as no lifers because it's a type of gameplay that annoys hardcoe fans and only attracts the noobs. I hate it - personally i won't be buying BF3 because i sadly never seriously played it i was just at different games in those times - i know it will smash MW3 and i know it's a PC game worth buying and
Since im going to college i'll be busy for playing some 64 player match for 5 hrs per day - i can - it'll just svck up time - im just fed enough of COD2 COD4 and older games when i had more time. SO now i prefer these big Singleplayer set pieces and calm modding and this sort of small and strong community evironiment - because i really do admire what ID Created - i just am over of my young days when some small stuff was important - i used to make custom mods and small stuff like that so many times that i overgrown it. The stuff that they put in DLCs today is just not very appealing to me because it's mostly the little stuff that doesn't make real worth buying at all. Studios cut-off modding tools and make these cheap DLCs is just not working for me - so i can safely but unfortunately say that i really don't care how much DLC BF3 has. The "wow" factor is just too small - 3 new maps . oh wow (yeah right) I remember the times when ehm ehm content was always put into free patches and there's some massive patches in the past that content in those patches surpassed what's in todays faggy DLCs. DLC is a console thing - they don't have modding tools nor any tweaking so they're welcome by any expandability - it just doesn't work on PC.
Pro tip: Don't waste your time making super quality texture packs for PC a payable DLC - you're wasting the whole community for PC - most of them will be WOW - but when they see the price - "ah forget about it"
Because it really is an issue - im a retail-only guy , i don't use credit cards because i don't need them and im not going to sustain one just to pay some DLC eg. 2 times per year. , and my parents don't allow me using theirs for online paymet - they don't really trust the online security at all.
So if the super quality packs are released as Steam DLC - it's a lost sale here - so you either make it free - or make it avialable to anyone. Making it free will probably boom the community growth, which is a priceless thing for future.
Well i do read news around the web and i don't know if that was just EA's origin debocle , but it's clear what's going on with RAGE marketing manners - it's about Steam as it's a Steamworks title - there are terms of how the developer can interact with their community - it's a set of limits and guidelines that must be obeyed - [censored] you valve.
Pro tip 2: Stop using steamworks and make your own service to manage your own games (hello blizzard)- Doom 4 has DS - i don't want screwing with steam around when i want to play on dedicated server.
Reminder for Carmack: He said in an interview that if you "put 100 million in for a game , focus on the PC, you're going bust" ---> Hello Blizzard (Starcraft 2) They did just that and made a new RTS PC-only sales record
