Which is worth Pre-ordering?

Post » Thu Sep 15, 2011 4:06 pm

I always have a regular fps to play and right now its MoH. Its my favorite franchise just cause i really like the game. But BF3 is probably gonna replace it or play it more. I like games that are unique and i havn't seen games like RAGE before which is why i want to pick it up right away. Same with BF3 cause the jet gameplay looks amazing. It may just be another fps but its really realistic (even though im not a huge realistic fps fan) but which one is worth pre-ordering for the content? right now it looks like BF3 has exclusive maps and guns, but RAGE has a buggy and a gun and a armor. But the fists of RAGE looks amazing. I'm gonna end up getting both games eventually but which game is worth Pre-ordering? thx 4 the feedback. -KillingSpree8 Xbl

i don't have a choice - in my country there is no local online retailers that sell preorder editions or anything like that - sometimes there are some rare collector editions but it's too small market in this central-eastern europe for publishers to notice

I say they lose quite significant sales in balkan and eastern europe where games can be expensive due to USD=EUR ripoffs and mainstream chains pumping up prices. which obviously leads to alternative ways of getting what gamers want. There's no marketing either, none at all.

but rage costs 35 eur here - i preordered in the SECOND i saw this.

I heard that all the BF3 exclusives are supposed to be free later after the release anyway.

that's, thanks to the huge revolt by the hardcoe fans of the series

pre-order exclusives are the most detrimental , most annoying most destructive ways of selling DLC or content - it feels like modern warfail 2 - split communities and no real solid connection - it's a breeding ground for noobs and hackers as well as no lifers because it's a type of gameplay that annoys hardcoe fans and only attracts the noobs. I hate it - personally i won't be buying BF3 because i sadly never seriously played it i was just at different games in those times - i know it will smash MW3 and i know it's a PC game worth buying and

Since im going to college i'll be busy for playing some 64 player match for 5 hrs per day - i can - it'll just svck up time - im just fed enough of COD2 COD4 and older games when i had more time. SO now i prefer these big Singleplayer set pieces and calm modding and this sort of small and strong community evironiment - because i really do admire what ID Created - i just am over of my young days when some small stuff was important - i used to make custom mods and small stuff like that so many times that i overgrown it. The stuff that they put in DLCs today is just not very appealing to me because it's mostly the little stuff that doesn't make real worth buying at all. Studios cut-off modding tools and make these cheap DLCs is just not working for me - so i can safely but unfortunately say that i really don't care how much DLC BF3 has. The "wow" factor is just too small - 3 new maps . oh wow (yeah right) I remember the times when ehm ehm content was always put into free patches and there's some massive patches in the past that content in those patches surpassed what's in todays faggy DLCs. DLC is a console thing - they don't have modding tools nor any tweaking so they're welcome by any expandability - it just doesn't work on PC.

Pro tip: Don't waste your time making super quality texture packs for PC a payable DLC - you're wasting the whole community for PC - most of them will be WOW - but when they see the price - "ah forget about it"

Because it really is an issue - im a retail-only guy , i don't use credit cards because i don't need them and im not going to sustain one just to pay some DLC eg. 2 times per year. , and my parents don't allow me using theirs for online paymet - they don't really trust the online security at all.

So if the super quality packs are released as Steam DLC - it's a lost sale here - so you either make it free - or make it avialable to anyone. Making it free will probably boom the community growth, which is a priceless thing for future.

Well i do read news around the web and i don't know if that was just EA's origin debocle , but it's clear what's going on with RAGE marketing manners - it's about Steam as it's a Steamworks title - there are terms of how the developer can interact with their community - it's a set of limits and guidelines that must be obeyed - [censored] you valve.

Pro tip 2: Stop using steamworks and make your own service to manage your own games (hello blizzard)- Doom 4 has DS - i don't want screwing with steam around when i want to play on dedicated server.

Reminder for Carmack: He said in an interview that if you "put 100 million in for a game , focus on the PC, you're going bust" ---> Hello Blizzard (Starcraft 2) They did just that and made a new RTS PC-only sales record ;)

this is a tough one, which is why i pre ordered both haha...

and not all the pre order content for bf3 will be free after release...different retailers have deals going on, such as free dog tags, or extra character skins, and the physical warfare pack....back to karkand wont be free if you didnt pre order the game, it will be released some months later and you will have to buy it...but the physical warfare pack will be free to everyone after some time, so it doesnt matter if you pre ordered or not, but if you do pre order (gamestop or origin) then you will be able to download it on the day of release..not sure about the dog tags or skins though...

.im excited for both games and cant wait to get my hands on rage!

Making this kind of question in a forum of "RAGE" I do not think it's a good idea.

Rage obviously win. If what you want to buy depends on what you like more.

That is actually becoming more and more common. Exclusive seems to now mean Timed Exclusive most of the time. But good luck getting Marketing to admit that while they are trying to get people to pre-order. They aren't going to tell us that while they can still get people to pre-order.

Also, they wouldn't consider it lying if they say it's Exclusive. It is Exclusive, for a limited time and during that time they can toss that word all they want. They don't have to say that it is only Exclusive for a limited time if it is.

I would also check to see how that DLC content is accessed. What part of it affects SP and what only affects MP.

Another thing I just checked out is that they will be offering the Back to Karkand Expansion Pack as a Regular DLC on Release day. It just comes free when pre-ordering the Limited Edition. The Physical Warfare pack will also be made available at a later date to all players, It is a timed exclusive. Got that info from the BF3 page http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield_bad_company/archive/2011/06/13/physical-warfare-pack-and-back-to-karkand-questions-answered.aspx .

Dice announced that the maps would be made available later, I never took that as the exclusive part since every pre order gets thosd you also get a bonus multiplayer pack depending on where you pre order from.

As to the original question I don't think either are particularly good pre order bonuses but I think I'd get more play from the BF3 maps than the two weapons and the one armor out of Rage.

None of the Pre order DLC is Exclusive. The only Exclusive is the Warfare pack and that has already been confirmed to be a Timed Exclusive.
