Please help me cure vampirism :(

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 2:16 pm

I get the feeling there are many people who never played as a vampire in oblivion. It was totally awesome as long as you fed regularly and it's the same in Skyrim, keep an eye on what stage of vampirism your at and if it gets up to 2 or 3 go feed on someone bringing yourself back to stage 1. Seriously if your vampirism gets up to stage 4 you have only yourself to blame.

It is, as has been said multiple times, a "Dark Gift". The only people that call it a curse are those who don't WANT to be a vampire.

Please try again.

Also @ the person above me, an extra 5 strength is hardly what i would call "Awesome". In fact, I didn't even notice the effects until i got to much higher stages.

Vampires are supposed to take groups of multiple people to take down even an untrained vampire. They shouldn't be exactly like a normal human except they can lift 25 lbs more.

They didnt. Being a vampire has always been a challenge, though normally they gave you ways of dealing with being full vampire. This time the charming abilities are a little weak IMO.

Exactly. Vampirism is a curse, and should behave as such. However, playing one should also have its advantages and rewards. Will they outweigh the disadvantages? Well, that should be a close enough race to be almost entirely subjective. This is not currently the case.

Just because a disease is scripted differently and is different at nature doesn't mean they aren't different-worldly. Vampirism is a disease, not a blessing.

1.) That depends on who you ask.

2.) So you really support the idea of an entirely punishing mechanic that is sometimes forced onto players, with the only way to remove it being some obscure, esoteric quest series that you most likely will have to seek outside help to find? Sorry, I don't. Bethesda can either make vamprism fun, or just remove it entirely, in my opinion.

3.) Vampirism is not a disease. Not as defined by the game. You contract it because of a disease, but the similarities end there.

Thanks all.. I too became a vampire and am looking for a cure. I don't understand why some people are getting all pissy over it. It is just another quest chain that chooses you instead of you choosing it... Now at least I know where to go to get started working for the cure...

"It's ruined the game for me."

That's the idea.

Vampirism in the Elder Scrolls is the antithesis to that giggler satisfying, pretentious [censored] that is Twilight, that Vampirism is not this awesome thing to be, it's a curse; a blight upon a being, which grants power while having drastic consequences.

...Not really.
Being a Vampire is supposed to be interesting. It was so in Morrowind, where there were quests and everything. Some factions spoke to you like you were normal, or at least handwaves your affliction.
In Oblivion, it was nothing but annoying. Apparently it's the same in Skyrim, which is a damn shame.

Alright, managed to get out of vampire form, thanks for those that helped me.

I think the concept of the vampire is great, it was actually a bit fun sneaking into people's homes naked, svcking an old person, and when they notice you you run up the mountains. Naked. Great feeling. However, I still feel weaker than I think I should be. Might be that I'm a warrior and not a sneaky character, but still.

Lots of people LIKE being a vampire, which is why they kept it in.

Feed on someone and you drop your vamp level and can talk to people again. Quit bellyaching.

vampire mode is designed for stealth/illusion characters. That's it. If you aren't a stealther, vampirism isn't for you. Also Dark Elfs make the best vampires, check out my post over there.
the game is brand new man, you encountered a bug. there is no way that particular npc should attack you, but there it is. Have you updated to the 1.1 patch btw? You should if u havent, it fixes a lot of these bugs. I haven't encountered any btw.
Stealth/Illusion characters have no trouble finding someone sleeping to feed on. All you have to do, is go to some keep (skyrim is infested with bandit keeps)
That, or just go into a town all stealthed during the night and feed in some house. Really isn't hard at all lol!. You should know, being a werewolf is fun and there is no downside at all :P

two ways I know of to cure once self of vampirism. First is that guy that needs a black soul gem and perferoms the ritual, speak to inkeepers to find out about him. Then there is the Companions quest line. it doesnt take too long before they turn you into a werewofl. that heals u of vampirism (its impossible to contract werewofl'sm any other way as a vampirism, as vamps are immune to deceases)

OP, try the cheat code for "Complete All Quest Stages" and see if that helps. Open the console, and type caqs. You can also use the toggle combat AI to stop the dude from attacking you. It's tcai. I looked and couldn't find a cheat code to toggle on/off vampirism, although surely it's there undiscovered. I mean, if you can change your gender, surely you can cheat your way out of it.

{Edited to add: Sorry, this is for PC. Not sure how to enter cheat codes for XBOX or PS3.}

{Edited to add again: Well shucks, I'm a little late. Note to self: Read thread more thoroughly next time!}
