However, in line with the above mentioned example, Dark Side has it's own charm. For example:
Spoiler
The Matale-Sandral Feud, which you can rig to leave all involved parties dead in a shootout of their own making.

Yeah, that quest was pretty cool. Too bad most of the other Dark Side options are are just cruelty for the sake of being cruel, instead of just being opportunistic and actually gaining something worthwhile from it.

Although some of them are rather amusing.

But yeah, I love Knights of the Old Republic. I really should get around to installing it again.

And play Jade Empire next, nothing beats the crazy combat in that game. :P

I haven't played Jade Empire, what is it like? I know it has a bit of an Asian vibe to it, and it's Bioware, so I'm sure there's some companion I can sleep with, but that's all I know. :P

It doesn't work very well on windows 7, just a heads up.

It's like an ancient China where All Myths are True. And then some. Its combat is very fun, what with all the sweet, physics defying jumps you can do, depending on your fighting style. And seeing as it is a Bioware game it has a karma-meter and romances.

Essentially KotOR reformed into a kung-fu story, with influences from Chinese and Japanese stories that has you flinging your fists of fury into stone guardians, drunken masters, and just about every other kung-fu stereotype. It's the closest you'll ever come to being Jet Li/Bruce Lee/Goku, and it's bloody marvellous. :P

So, I got a hankerin' to play something Star Wars related (since the last SW game I played was Battlefront II when it came out), and I realized I've only heard good things about KOTOR. The reason I'm even asking is because it's an older game, and I'd like to know if there's an otherwise more enjoyable SW game (that's free or reasonably priced) out there somewhere.

It's $9.99 on Steam.

Y/N?

If you like Mass effect 1, you'll like KOTOR.

Oh, hey, this is still on the front page.

Anyway: I'm probably going to stick with the light side. I might make another character afterwards and make them dark, but until then.

Also, I have a problem starting the game up. Once I get it worked out, the game runs fine. It's just the company logos and menu don't like to show themselves without me repeatedly opening and closing the program. Is there any patch for this?

Also also, I svck. Terribly. I decided to go as a Scoundrel and use Pistols. Can't get past the second guy in the arena, and saving that other guy at the gate in the Undercity is suicide. Any tips?

Yeah. Start a new game and use swords instead of pistols. It's not impossible to have your own character using ranged weapons, but that's best saved for another playthrough when you know the game better. Feats like critical strike and flurry can also be used with lightsabers, so those will still come in handy later. Best to leave the ranged weapons to your party members.
