Your favorite game genre

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 8:18 am

There are many styles of games, everything from shooting aliens to creating and living in a world of your design. The question is, what gives you the most enjoyment? Where do you fit in most comfortably, is it casually chain sawing an alien in twain while laughing manically or slowly building an empire to rule the world? Somewhere in between maybe?

I would love to see an RPG that incorporates some really complex puzzles and a different sort of gameplay. Like if it were possible to incorporate some elements from Amnesia The Dark Descent into Skyrim, for example.

I also enjoy strategy games like Civ5, Empire: Total War, etc.

By faaar RPGs - its actually pretty much all I play... if there's no sorcery then I get bored and fast! My favourites would have to be FF6, FF7 and Secret of Mana (hey now, its mainly for the nostalgia factor but you have to admit these games are GOOD!)

WRPG: Toss up between Morrowind and Fallout: New Vegas.

JRPG: Ummmm.....Zelda if that counts, I haven't actually enjoyed a Final Fantasy game sence I was eight.

MMO: Its not out yet, but I will no doubt enjoy Guild Wars 2 more than I ever did WoW.

FPS: DOOM, I have never enjoyed another FPS besides DOOM, Battlefield seem interesting though.

TPS: Devil May Cry, if you could call it a third-person shooter.

Fighting: Toss up between Soul Calibur 4 and Tekk.....no, nevermind, its Soul Calibur 4. :D

Platformer: FANCY PANTS!!!

RTS: Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together.

Action: Any Mega Man game.

Sim: Heavy Rain was a Simulator in some ways......

Puzzle: Umm, God of War? :P

Sports:

My favorite genre overall: Don't have one.

The grand champion of all of these: Fallout New Vegas or Morrowind. I like them equally.

It was a close call between RP games and RTS games for me, I went with RTS in the end because I think over the years I've spent more time on them than any other genre.

I don't really have a favourite genre, but I usually play RPG (Morrowind, Oblivion, etc.), FPS (Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, etc.), turn-based strategy (Civilization series) and sandbox (Garry's Mod, Minecraft, etc.) games.

First person action RPGs, preferably in a cyberpunk setting.

Games like System Shock, Deus Ex and Bloodlines. But also games like The Elder Scrolls series, the newer Fallouts and the Thief series.

I would be mighty pleased if there ever was an open-ended game like Fallout 3, but in a huge cyberpunk metropolis. It's the ultimate dream game!

Other.

I like games with are action-oriented but have RPG elements and/or are story/character driven.

I'm very picky about games I like.
