Trading in Games

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 9:57 am

No.

When I was younger on XBOX I would trade in games. One day I really felt like playing a game I traded in 2 years prior.

Went in to the same store and bought the game used for about double what I had traded it for 2 years before.

Definitely not worth it. Ever since 360, PS3 I just horde games. People I know who want to trade in sometimes come to me with games and I pay $5 more than trade in if it's a game I don't have (that isn't complete garbage).

I trade in games all the time. I buy most of my games used for <10 euro and most of the time, I'll just play through them once and then trade them against something else. If I keep them they're just going to gather dust on my shelf.

Only as a last resort when you're short on money.

I don't trade in games period. I always end up feeling "I wanna play this... oh... yeah...", and I like having a large collection of games. There are exceptions of course (ie. GTA IV when I get around to trading it in...)

Why would you trade in an old TES game? Don't you have something less infinitely replayable lying around? :P

Because he wont have time to play anything when Skyrim comes :teehee:

i just p'x/ed 5 360 games,so that i could afford the collector's edition arkham city.to be honest with 4 of the games i didn't get very much for them, but it was deus ex human revolution that i got the most for (it is a great game/i just couldn't get into it though).personally i wouldn't sell your elder scrolls games,as you just wouldn't get much for them.also it would be a shame to get rid of them (just my view though)

As many of you probably know, you can trade-in old games in order to receive half credit towards another purchase. Do you think it would be worth it to turn in my old Elder Scrolls games in order to purchase Skyrim at a discount? Why or why not?

How much of a discount could I get?

Are any of you doing the same?

I do it all the time on Play.com. Got a free Seller account a couple of years ago and have sold quite a few games that i no longer play. You set your own price which is what you want.
It`s surprising how much cash can mount up, if you time it right. Check the other prices and quantity, if people are selling your game at really daft prices, it`s not worth it.

6 months ago i sold my PC version of Oblivion for £15 (have on Xbox) and was pretty pleased with that. I also sold games like Test Drive Unlimited (Xbox 360) for £15, Arma 2 for £15 and a few others. It was lucky that the timing was good. Ones like RDR, FO3 and FO:NV i wouldn`t part with. Hell i even got my FO:NV from Play second hand, in great condition for £12 at the time.

Several months ago, games like The Godfather 2 on Xbox 360 were still selling at ridiculous prices on Play because there wasn`t many on there for sale and prices were being vastly overcharged.

It is worth it though when you accumulate a nice pile of credits/cash :)

The trade-in values are usually crap like others stated. Even if you get 30%-40% increase, that won't be much on a game like Oblivion or Morrowind. You can pick up Oblivion for about $20.

Honestly, I don't trade my games in. I've thought about but I never actually commit to the idea. Some day some of them may be worth some real money. Especially if they're original release copies.

Only if you're desperate. Go with Craigslist or Ebay.

I never sell games, once I have them, I keep them. (Well besides the new CoD's, those went back to the store.)
