Need a New Video Card

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 5:35 am

I'll measure my card in a few minutes.

I want to point that I'm not trying to build a NASA supercomputer. I just want to be able to play newer/new games at decently attractive settings for the next few years or so. Could this be done with just a new card? If not, would I have to buy an entirely new PC?

If your monitor only goes to 1280x1024 (which is what I gathered from your DXDIAG) you should be able to play new games at decent settings with a new GPU. My sister has the same resolution, a weaker CPU (AMD X2 5200+) and a weaker video card than I linked (HD 4670) and she can play WoW, Fallout 3 and Torchlight just fine on medium to high settings.

Alright, well, I'll take all of the suggestions and see how things go. I might just wait until a newer game comes out that I've been waiting for, try and run it, and see how it does. If it does well I'll hold off for a while. If not, well, I'll have this here.

Thanks, guys.

Well I imagine that you'll be able to run Skyrim pretty well, just not on high settings.
