Paranormal Activity 3

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 1:44 pm

I just got back from seeing it. It left me with more confusing questions than answer, but that'll probably lead up to another sequel. I thought the movie was pretty good, seeing as how I'm quite easily frightened. Needless to say, I was clinging on to my girlfriend the whole time...

I've never seen the first, and the second wasn't very scary at all. I might end up seeing the third if it's as scary as you all say though.

The theater was packed tonight, and we sold out on Paranormal Activity 3 (I work there), so I guess it's a big deal.

It's a good movie. I like the first and second movies better, because this one felt shorter, but it did a good job telling how it all begin. Randy is a pretty hilarious character.

Also, if you find the end of a movie to be a twist, then you should of seen the second movie because it's pretty much revealed in it. I am a big baby when it comes to horror movies, but have an obsession with found footage movies, and I love the Paranormal Activity series.

i have my doubts about paranormal activity 3 being enjoyable, the first got to be such a popular movie because the common insistence of one of either two things: 1. it was real and not faked, which to my surprise many people believed it was real (to which i tell them real hauntings don't have sequels). Then 2 was the insistance that the movie was one of the scariest haunting movies to come out in years, which i think is only possible if you are very gullible or suspend all disbelief, considering the whole thrill aspect is based on the viewer percieving it as a real occurance because of the home movie theme.

these movies have the same "scary" speacial effect styles that were used in polterguist which is 30 years old, so no. i fail to see how these movies are scary to any one.

Wasn't Poltergeist considered one of the scariest movies of all time?

It was very fun, my fiance and I just got back. Scary? nah, Hellraiser is scary, these movies however are fun for the cheap jumps and laughs. All in all, it was a great experience.

I think it was only because a lot of kids saw it at the time because it was rated PG.

Agreed, am I the only one who thinks the guy who played Randy was hilarious?

I've not seen any of the Paranormal Activity films. I've heard they're both really good and really bad so I've never bothered. Insidious though, terrifying.

Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary

I saw that scene in the trailer at the cinema. Nearly wet myself a little bit.
I really want to see Dream House, again, saw the trailer in the cinema. Literally the entire room screamed at one point. Looks awesome.

Can anybody explain the story or the "why" of why it all happened? I never bothered watching more than the first half hour of the first because I got bored and I don't recall the second one being released. When I went to watch it people were talking, laughing, and screaming too much for me to be able to hear what the characters in the movie were saying.

I found Insidious to be terryfying too, and the Bloody Mary part isn't as bad as it was in the trailer. I've also seen Dream House, and I thought it was a pretty meh movie.

Edit: I just realized that the Bloody Mary part is completely different from the one in the movie. Most of the stuff in the trailers is completely different from the movie.

Spoiler

The main characters grandmother belonged to a coven of witchs who made a deal with a demon for wealth in exchange for the first born son (/end cliche).

I've never actually seen it, I'm just almost certain I've heard that somewhere.

I agree, good actor. Another recent great acting performance for me, which ironically was in another movie about possession, was the guy who played Reverend Cotton Marcus in The Last Exorcism.

Insidious is another great movie, loved it. I'm in love with scary movies, I don't think any of them are particularly scary but I love the good ones like Insidious. The point where the boy said, "When (other boy) walks around at night," my girlfriend lost it.

You should check of the trailer for The Devil Inside. :goodjob:

Huge movie spoiler:

Spoiler
Grandma was in the cult business, particularly the sacrificing babies to the devil cult business, particularly the babies of girls they brainwashed and got pregnant.

Edited a couple of posts. Considering the movie has just recently come out - there's going to be members on this forum who might be interested in discussing the movie, but don't want to run into any potential spoilers.

So it is helpful for these threads that if you do want to talk about specific plot points (or just in general things that people might not want to know about ahead of time,) to use the following code to enclose the spoiler in the proper tags:
...
Thanks!

I found the movie rather repetitive and kind of annoying. I almost pissed my pants laughing when he turned on the light and the room was full grannies and how everyone in theater screamed. I know grannies are ugly, but I mean scary? You kick them in the hip and they're down for the count. The first one was the only one that creeped me out because I didn't know what I was watching (tv was left on that channel) and it seemed convincingly real until the it got closer to the end.

The one that got everyone in my theater:

Spoiler
The girlfriend jumping out of the closet at the beginning.

That was the only part that made jump actually, I was mad at myself for jumping because I absolutely without-a-doubt knew something like that was going to happen. :banghead:
