As for buying physical copies of things, I prefer cheap (or free) MP3 downloads and then buying a copy on vinyl if I can. Much prefer the sound on vinyl, and I'm a bit of a collector.

Most new vinyl releases come with an mp3 download code. It's nice that they do that to keep us vinyl junkies in the 21st century.

YES. Do you have Godbluff?

Only on CD, unfortunately. Just happened across those two VDGG albums in a record shop, as well as The Quiet Zone/The Pleasure Dome which I also got, it's not that great though. Also found some Tangerine Dream for really cheap as well, got Phaedra and Stratosfear for 3 quid each, which was fantastic.

And anyway, after many moons of listening and comparing, I think Still Life is a better album. Just.

I much prefer The Quiet Zone/The Pleasure Dome to World Record, though, so I wouldn't say it's that bad of a score. Still Life is great though, and my second favorite right behind Godbluff  And then Pawn Hearts is of course also great too. I'm not much of a vinyl collector myself, but I'd get pretty excited if I saw some of these myself. Kinda makes me wished I lived nearby so we could have a listening session

Really, I actually think World Record is alright, fades a bit towards the end, but not a bad album by any means. Neither is The Quiet Zone but my main beef with it is there's no saxophone which... makes it sound less like VDGG really. If that makes sense. I have a job interview tomorrow so if it goes well I'll have to pop into the same record shop on my way home. Last time I was there they had tons of Steely Dan, some Magma and a bunch of Peter Hammill stuff that I couldn't afford at the time. Owning Koba?a would be sweeeeeeet.

Also all this talk of buying vinyls is making me browse eBay which is always very dangerous for my wallet.

EDIT - spelling. derp.

snip

Having some Dan and Magma on vinyl would be pretty sweet. I actually once had Mekanik Destruktiw Kommandoh on vinyl, but I came to realize later how piss poor the production on that album is compared to most of their other ones and how much better some of the live versions of it sound. Have fun and try not to go broke.
